And I just can’t find it. Maybe the silence when Jake Fox knocks his second homer of the game?

really does
the whole management structure has been a disaster this year.
He commited quite a few errors in Iowa, didn't he?
Alan worked with him a lot before we let him play in the field, maybe that’s why.
if all it took was two weeks of Trammel
Trammel is a miracle worker or the guys in Iowa are pathetic.
that why Iowa hasnt developed many viable players
i have seen nothing to suggest Fox’s defense is " a notch below horrific" as some scouts claimed.

It's just insane.....
I mean, I can understand struggling – as in having trouble breaking 5 runs in a game for a week.
But the Cubs’ ineptitute defies reality. The fact that they actually are this consistently bad – especially with RISP – would seem to be evidence of throwing games if I didn’t know better.
I mean, can an offense REALLY be this bad?!?! Really?!?!

by CubsBullsBears on Jun 26, 2009 3:33 PM CDT up reply actions
I think he has been highly critical of the team
including the effort being shown and the fundamentals. I just get that feeling from his tone.
As to shaking it up, I can guarantee you Soriano would not be batting first, nor would he be playing every day given how lazy he is and that he refuses to alter his approach.
But you are right to an extent, the disaster that is Jim Hendry has hamstrung this team.
by that logic, I'd say there are about 1000 BCBers who want the job
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
they're all wrong
about Soriano too.
I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. the evidence suggests it is you
who is wrong…two more ks today…no homers in weeks
has absolutely nothing
to do with his being lazy. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest his is lazy. Lazy players don’t ask to play 150+ games a year. Lazy players don’t say “I will do whatever Lou Piniella asks me to do.” Lazy players don’t push themselves when they hurt.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. doesn’t consistently fail to execute bunts. He got under it. It happens. The pitcher is hucking the ball at you at 80+ miles an hour, and you have to hit it with a stick. Give me a break.

Show me where I hollered at Blanco
And no, bunting a ball is essentially catching a ball with the bat. It’s a fundamental skill that every player should be able to do. It speaks to a failing of the minor league coaching staff if multiple players cannot execute a play that is a skill that high school players can handle with regularity.
As for your blind devotion to the Cubs, well, I’m behind the Cubs here more than anybody but you. But at least I can look at the team objectively.

drew -- was that bunt not terrible?
Have the Cubs not had poor fundamentals?
I'm past the point ...
where I’m OK with excuses for botched plays on this team. I think a lot of us here are.
one caveat --
the starting pitchers have some credit to burn.
You're right, it does happen.
But to me, bunting should be easier than actually swinging a bat, because you’re not swinging. You’re “catching” the ball with the bat. And if I’m going to be upset when a high-schooler can’t execute a bunt, then I’m going to be frustrated when a Major League baseball player whose skill set is bat control and good fielding can’t do it.
You’re right, it does happen. But I’d hope that Blanco would do better than that.
I love to play baseball. I'm a baseball player. I've always been a baseball player. I'm still a baseball player. That's who I am. - Ryne Sandberg
