Thanks for the Bleachers advice

A couple of weeks ago, I posted asking for advice on sitting in the bleachers at Wrigley - here.

I wanted to thank everyone who responded to that post, with a wealth of excellent advice.  I had the same experience when I asked for advice before going to the playoff game at Dodger Stadium last October - great advice from all of you, and one of the great values of Bleed Cubbie Blue.

Of course, it rained cats and dogs before the game that day, so we had to improvise on the "when to arrive" part.  We got wet enough as it was.  We ended up sitting in the upper centerfield bleachers with a lot of Indians fans next to us, which was a pain for many innings, but got MUCH better late.  As you know, it was one of the great Cubs games this season - big comeback, reminiscent of the comeback game against the Rockies last year.  If anyone saw a W flag in the upper centerfield bleachers after the game that day, that was us.

I tried to stop by and say Hi to Al and "Doggie Stalker" that day.  I think that I remember what Al looks like from pictures here, and I didn't see him.  And without spotting him, I did not have a hope of finding the rest of his entourage.  Were you all at the ballpark that day?

I was there

You don’t have to know what Al looks like to spot the section. It is the TOP row of the furthest section over in LF
by the foul poll. There are only 4 “seats” ( well room for 4 people) on that row. However that might have been the ONE day you could have gotten confused as due to the rain Al had to sit in then next row down as some guys had his seats. However if you had come by and just said which one of you is Al Yellon, you would have found us.

Jessica is correct.

We did wind up in the seats in the 7th inning when the other people left. Interestingly, that’s when the Cub comeback began.

I am sorry that I missed you both

…and whoever else is in the BCB entourage.

I’ll try again — probably next year. Last year was the first year that I made it to Wrigley in 8 years, but I am trying to make it an annual affair. I live in CA, but since I moved out here, have always visited Springfield every year to see my parents, brothers and sisters. My father was the last of my parents to pass away, in December 2006, and my many brothers and sisters are more mobile, and can make it up to Chicago. Not incidentally, the last time that I had made it to Wrigley before last year was in 2000, for my Dad’s 75th birthday. The family rented a bus and brought many relatives up for that game.

Keep on believing!

Jim
