Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

No surpise who is at the top.

"1. Bradley, Cubs OF. Who else? He doesn't always count outs. Of course, if he did, he'd know he's made plenty of them, way more than his share. An absolute train wreck, he showed his ability to get hurt in spring training, and since then, he's showed all the other myriad issues. No one should give this man a three-year deal. One good thing, if he doesn't reach 75 games, the third year is wiped off the books and the $30-million, three-year contract is only a $20-million, two-year deal (still too much for him, though)."

Too early for this.

Let’s wait until end of the year to makeBradley the bust of the season

He'd have to have one monumental second half

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

I don't care about his final numbers,

but if he is producing at a 850-900 OPS clip in the crunch time it will be good for us. I don’t care if his final numbers are weighed down by the bad early numbers.

I was in favor of his signing, but will wait until the end of season to say whether it was a good/bad signing.

Well if you take the whole picture into account

Regardless of any hot streak he may or may not have, if his final numbers are sub bar, whether by his standards or the levels of a similarly paid player, its not going to look like a good signing.

No kidding.

Bren’s right to post it and only in the fanshot section, but everyone’s a rush to judgment nowadays.

It was just a quick, interesting read

nothing too elaborate

I shouldve noted the author mentions the best signings "so far" in the article

so take that for you what you will

I actually found this to be a pretty good article...

…as long as the “so far” caveat is recognized. There’s really nothing in Heyman’s assessment that I disagree with. Milton Bradley has been a colossal disappointment at the plate.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Guess who's not on here...

Bob Howry, who’s been a decent reliever for the Giants this year.

Oh yeah...Bobby Howry.

He’s still giving up a lot of hits (26 in 28 IP), and his K and BB numbers are nothing to write home about, but he’s had some good stretches of scoreless outings. Looks like he pitched two very good innings against the Brewers yesterday.
