Inside the Majors is a wonderful blog written by Bart Given, former assistant GM of the Toronto Blue Jays. He primarily covers Front Office minutiae: waiver rules, options, etc. His most recent post is on Friday's rift between Lou and Gameboard

This quote:

I’ve spent significant time in every visiting clubhouse in the A.L., including the one at U.S. Cellular – and I’m pretty sure I know exactly who Rothschild and Cubs GM Jim Hendry are referring to when they talk of a "leak". This particular employee has a reputation within baseball circles as someone who may be a double-agent. If the allegation is true, and can somehow be proven, I hope he is banished from working in the visiting clubhouse.

If the Cubs pursue action against this individual—given the current media climate in this city—they will be lambasted for being “sore losers” and what not. The AL teams should do something, though.

One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.

Interesting quote.

I’d agree; such a person should not be permitted to work in a visiting clubhouse.

As a former minor league clubbie

it can be tough to stay impartial, but your job definitely depends on your ability to maintain discretion. Word definitely gets around and I imagine he’ll not be popular with other visiting teams.

how inappropriate would it be

for teams to refer to him as “mr. rat” or somesuch? to his face. not behind his back, but to his face. shame him into a new profession.

Bart Given

Malcontent, there’s a reason he was let go in January.

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
