My Own Personal Forgetting DeRosa Pictures....Sure to make you smile.
So. I'm tired of all of the DeRosa talk. I am even more tired of watching bad baseball. And after the 6-0 Sox beating, I decided I needed to do something to make myself feel better about this season and about the RedBirds getting a pretty useful Ex-Cub. Some people will chide me for being childish or immature....fine. I don't care. This felt a little like that famous scene from "Office Space" with the guys and the fax machine....and now forever...I will never again think about Mark DeRosa...no more standing O's at Wrigley...he got that already...from now on I treat the same way I would treat Nyjer Morgan. Enjoy the pictures...hope they made you laugh. I especially liked the last "ghost of DeRosa" picture...
So...since I burned the DeRosa shirt the Cubs are 1-0 and the Cardinals are 0-2. Forget the other pictures...these are the ones to remember on bleedcubbieblue.com....post DeRosa burn records....here come the playoffs! Feel free to Rec this!
GO CUBS!!!

I’m glad, in retrospect, that the Cubs were able to make use of a good ex-Cardinal last season. BTW, who is this Mark DeRosa guy?

Long live the curse of Mark DeRosa!
The Cardinals will go on a major collaspe, DeRosa will hit .213 with 5 homers and 9 erros the rest of the way. Conspiracy theorists will claim that DeRosa was secretly helping the Cubs from within the enemy. A modern day trojan horse if you will.

I have to agree with this
But have the uncontrollable urge to suggest that someone get a Casey McGehee Cub shirt and burn that….

There were no Sosa shirts left?
They’re still floating around on eBay, but that’s such a silly thing to suggest.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
You want to curse the team of retired players?
McGehee’s on the Brewers.
I didn’t think my comment above required the sarcasm tag . . . I thought that it would have been obvious. Lesson learned.

Prior?
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
I thought this was a jersey at first and my jaw hit the floor.
But on closer inspection it’s just the t-shirt… phew… still, burning an effigy of a legend… uncool. I often burned all my ex-girlfriend’s stuff after a bad break up (like the stuff she gave me and I kept, not LITERALLY committing arson or anything)… that’s what this reminds me off… the stuff may be gone, but the pain remains.
lmao!
Why would you post that here? How emasculating.
a legend?
I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.

I find this somewhat disturbing...
…but if the Cubs keep winning and the Cards keep losing, I will give you full credit, sir.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
People take life way to seriously....
Disturbing? Cmon Dave….you can turn on MTV at 3 in the afternoon and watch a damn reality show called, “16 and pregnant.” Thanks MTV for giving young girls a “disturbing” way to get on MTV. That is 50x worse then burning a $15 t shirt to make a large number of people laugh and smile.
But, I will wait for the credit when the Cubs go on their run in 2009….deal.

I wouldnt use the word disturbing
But it was strange, but I found it pretty funny. I was one of the people who really loved DeRo and now its more painful cause I live with a Cardinals fan. Thanks for sharing it :) And I am also going to give huge props to you if DeRo does poorly in St Louis.
"Every player should be accorded the privilege of at least one season with the Chicago Cubs. That's baseball as it should be played - in God's own sunshine. And that's really living."
I happened to stumble on that show yesterday
Oh! The youth of this country…
One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.
You realize using MTV as a barometer of good taste is pretty dubious, right?
Maybe “disturbing” is too strong, but I’ve seen a lot of pictures of things (people, flags) burned in effigy and, well, these reminded me of those. I can see what you’re going for, though, and people seem to like it so…kudos.

Recced for making me laugh harder than I ever have on BCB...
I was laughing as soon as I saw the gas can next to the shirt, but the “ghost of DeRosa” shot took the cake. I was/am a HUGE DeRosa fan – he brought unity to the clubhouse and played the game like a professional. But… here’s why I have a sense of humor about this:
From the moment DeRo became a Cleveland Indian, he was not going to be a Cub again anytime soon. The reason – GM egos, which are among the most powerful Forces of Baseball. The reason we needed to drop the DeRo discussion is because it was delusional from the start – kind of like that poor bastard in highschool whose girlfriend moves to a far away town and he just doesn’t let it go, even as she starts seeing someone else. It’s kind of like that.. an old crush – or an old man crush, as it is in this case.
We need to move on. Mark needs to move on. We can stop crying about this because you know what they say about crying and baseball. If anyone else out there is still clinging to this delusional notion of Mark DeRosa as a Chicago Cub, BLW’s four step process above is your path back to the real world.

thanks.....
I can’t believe that more people do not think this is funny. Obviously it was done tongue-in-cheek….and more as a rebellion from the putrid season (yeah I know…3.5 back, but my God these games have been awful to sit through) we are going through.
All of my friends called and text me telling me that they literally had tears in their eyes that a 29 year old lawyer would burn one of his perfectly fine Cubs shirts…but nonetheless they said that seeing these pictures made them laugh and actually feel better about this season and the future of it. So I thought I would share it with BCB.
Your comment made the time it took to post on BCB totally worth it. Thanks!

I don't think a national audience will get the joke
but maybe send it to chicagoist or the ESPN Chicago-centric site.

Obviously I am tired of this DeRo stuff or I wouldn’t have taken these measures! But, I figured the BCB community needed to see this and mark the “DeRo Shirt Burning” as the possible turning point to the 2009 season.

I really appreciate the symbolism of this. I, too, have been having a hard time letting go of #7; provided they don’t inflict physical damage, rituals can be a great way of dealing with unresolved emotions!

hey while we're at it
I got a T-shirt with the Employee’s Number and a never worn Sammy Sosa Season To Remember ball cap .. can I toss it on the pile?
Do you think it might solve the problems in outfield and the bullpen ??
Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!
i'm not sure
how this is supposed to curse the cardinals
but derosa hurt his wrist tonight
fuck you, gobs
okay
in the future, i will remember to use words with identical meanings, but that are arbitrarily more socially acceptable, effectively conveying the same message with a different string of consonants.
