Pirates Wheeling and Dealing
ESPN obviously thinks its a big deal that the Yankees got Eric Hinske, but I think the bigger move of the day is them trading away Morgan and Burnett for Milledge and Hanrahan. What are your thoughts??

Ask Pirate fans
Ask them how they feel about their team being a farm team for teams around MLB.

Y'know, we could seriously ask them.
Just click here.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Well...Pirates sorta robbed the Braves blind on Nate McLouth
I like McLouth as much as the next guy. But fact is McLouth was a relative late bloomer ala Ryan Theriot and hasn’t lived up to expectations in 2009. Meanwhile the Pirates extracted 2 exceptional and 1 very good prospect from the Braves. Plus, Andrew McCutheon is the real deal in centerfield and they Pirates needed to make room for his arrival.

Unbelievable
that a franchise that’s boasted players like Honus Wagner, Pie Traynor, Ralph Kiner, Willie Stargell, Roberto Clemente and a pre-roided Barry Bonds has come to this.

And...
Paul Waner, Lloyd Waner, Arky Vaughan, Max Carey, Bill Mazeroski…
That list goes on and on. It’s hard to believe that the Pirates have turned into what the Kansas City Athletics were decades ago.

And don't forget a beautiful new stadium in a city accustomed to winning championships
On a related note, I hope the Cubs get to see Hanrahan tonight or at least tomorrow…
One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.

Indeed
PNC is, IMHO, the best of all the new parks, and Pittsburgh is a pretty cool city.

Agree 100 percent.
SafeCo up in Seattle gives PNC a run for its money, but the latter is definitely the best of the new stadiums.

Milledge still has a chance to be a decent player.
Hanrahan is a better pitcher than Burnett. The Pirates got a pretty good deal.

Milledge is a whisker away from being Felix Pie
Nuff said.

I like it. The Cubs will be playing a team with 24 players tonight more than likely
I doubt Hanrahan makes it to tonight’s game – I guess there’s a chance he could, but Pittsburgh may be missing a lefty in the pen tonight (though Grabow will be there). That could help tonight.

Perhaps the Nationals might have gotten the better deal
Milledge started out okay this season, but went downhill and got packed off to Syracuse. He was still with the farm team when he got traded. Hanrahan has been the on again, off again closer this season. More off than on, it’s seemed like.

Yes, Milledge was recovering from the broken finger...
but it seemed like there was no rush to bring him back up either.
