Cubs need to make a trade
i THINK THE CUBS NEED TO LOOK INTO A TRADE WITH THE BLUE JAYS FOR ADAM LIND. HE IS A GREAT HITTER HE CAN PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND TAKE MILTONS SPOT? WOULD BE A GREAT TRADE. LIND IS TYPICALLY USED AS A DH IN TORONTO BUT HE COULD BE A BACKUP FOR D LEE AND HE IS A LEFT HANDED BAT THAT DONT STRIKE OUT VERY OFTEN. WOULD MAKE A GREAT 2 HITTER. MAYBE TRADE FUKUDOME AND START HOFFPUIR EVERYDAY? TOO GOOD LEFT HANDED BATS AND ONE IDIOT IN BRADLEY GONE. ALSO A LOT CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN

Are you suggesting

Ok, wait, wait!

If I understand this, you want to trade Bradley AND Fukudome for a DH who can play RF and 1B. Yet you want Hoffpauir to start every day.
So, you’re saying Hoff starts in CF???

Trade made
In effect a trade has been made. A Ram is coming off the DL. That’s like trading minor league talent for an all star. It doesn’t hurt this year, it only helps. And that’s bigger than any trade that could be made this year.

Its true
A Ram is an All Star caliber player. Adding him to the line-up changes the whole dynamic of the team. The only other thing that would really help would be Soriano and Bradley going down with injuries so that the team isn’t forced to play them because of their high salaries.
A Ram moves Fontenot back to his correct position and platoons him. It moves Miles off the roster. It moves fox away from third to somewhere he can play (say LF). And it puts a number 4 hitter into the line up. A real number 4.. He was hitting .360 with a slugging percentage of .561 when he went down.

I actually agree...
…with much of what you say here (I kinda doubt Miles will be moved off the roster…though we can only hope), but that line just brings back bad memories of Cubs past. I definitely agree about getting Fontenot back to his natural position. And I’d like to see Soriano go away for a spell – a 15-day spell, to be exact – during which Fox could play left. Then again, I think Jake’s best shot at sticking with the team is as a 3B backup, so I want him to keep getting reps there.

I don't see Z or DLee as being a problem at this point.
Both have been reasonably productive players amongst a sea of bitter disappointment. That said, I wonder what the state of Giants farm system is and whether there’s anyone there the Cubs could really use. If there are legit candidates to fit the team’s needs, and the Cubs really crash and burn in July, maybe you do ask DLee whether he’d waive his NTC to go to SF.

Top Giants' prospects
There seems to be a bit of talent in the Giant’s system, a good number of power pitching arms.
The top prospects are:
1) Madison Bumgarner, LHP
2) Buster Posey, C
3) Tim Alderson, RHP
Like the Cubs they have had problems scoring and with the bullpen. In particular, Wilson, an all star closer last year, has been a bit inconsistent. As to whether the Giants would be buyers or sellers, it looks like they are leaning, however slightly, to being buyers right now. They seem to believe they have a shot, and if their starting pitching holds up, they just might. Lincecum and Cain are Cy Young candidates, and the local boy done good, RJohnson, seems rejuvenated.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.

alright.

This is the greatest and best fan-post in the world... Tribute.
Long time ago me and my mambochickens here, we was hitchhikin’ down a long and lonesome blog.
All of a sudden, there shined an ERIC HANNA… in the middle… of the Blog.
And he said:
“POST THE BEST SONG IN THE WORLD, OR I’LL EAT YOUR SOUL! GETIT DONE, JIM!”
Well me and Mambo, we looked at each other, and we each said… “Okay.”
And we wrote the first thing that came to our heads, Just so happened to be, The Best Fan Post in the World, it was The Best Post in the World.
Look into my eyes and it’s easy to see
One and one make two, two and one make three, It was destiny.
Once every hundred and one years or so,
When the Cubs doth shine and Wrigley Field doth glow And the grass doth grow…
Needless to say, HANNA was stunned.
Crumple up went his Old-Style can,
And the beast was done.
He asked us: “BE YOU ASTROS?”
And we said, “Nay. We are but CUBS.”
Rock!
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah,
Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh!
This is not The Greatest Fan Post in the World, no.
This is just a tribute.
Couldn’t remember The Greatest Fan Post in the World, no, no.
This is a tribute, oh, to The Greatest Fan Post in the World, All right! It was The Greatest Fan Post in the World, All right! It was the best muthaf@ckin’ Post the greatest Fan Post in the world.
And the peculiar thing is this my friends:
the post we wrote on that fateful night it didn’t actually read ANYTHING LIKE THIS POST!
This is just a tribute! You gotta believe it!
And I wish you were there! Just a matter of opinion.
Go Cubs! Go Cubs, Go Cubbies,
So surprised to find you can’t stop it.
All right! All right!
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

see - that's just it. I think you guys are a bit offbeat with your beats.
Your current structure is two rhyming lines, followed by “god I love this time of year.”
But I’m pretty sure the original effort was structured somewhat differently and thus you and your band of merry men have not been true to the origins of excellence.
If I’m correct, well then you’re nothing but a bunch of poetry posers and guess-rhyming hacks.

he doesn't have
a specific meter or beat, actually. It’s a mix of four and five syllable phrases which rhyme, followed by “God, I love this time of year”. It’s a basic triad, sort of, mixed with a ballad.
Dood, I’m a poet. I have rejection slips and a full-time job to prove it.
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

not disputing the quality (or lack thereof) of the original efforts
just pointing out that you, Shanghai, Daver, gwood, etc. were not staying true to the original form in which the second and third lines are the ones that rhyme, not the first and second as you guys did.
Whether or not your alterations have improved the poetic quality, I’ll leave that to those qualified (such as yourself) to judge such things.

Well, at least you admit it
Awaiting the next post patiently for so very long,
I’d thought I’d finally see Drew acknowledge he was wrong.
But I should have known that day would never come nigh,
Sure enough – that last post was from Badger, Shanghai.

eric hanna and FAN of the BULLS will lead BCBers to the promised land
He can throw a fastball at 87MPH and make you look like a fool. He can spray lines drives to right field. He can put up with crappy offense and take the loss. He is Randy Wells. He is the most interesting pitcher in the world. Stay healthy, my friends.
