I thought about going to the game...

…and now, seeing how empty the ballpark is, I kind of wish I had.

Of course, if I were there right now, I’d be freezing my hiney off and probably soaked wet.

by mistersite on Jun 4, 2009 6:10 PM CDT up reply actions

My big problem...

is that I can’t really leave work early the next few weeks, so there was no way I could’ve made the start of game 1…which, tonight, would be the whole reason to go.

I know

But it’s a valid question. Pedro and Petitte are 80ish wins away, nobody else is close. Considering the way the game is now, it’s hard to see it happening

Hard to tell for sure

Someone at SI had a really good column the other day (and of course, i can’t find it) about this. This last group of 300 winners had comparable wins to those really good pitchers in their late 20s now (Santana, Hamels, etc)…

seriously!?!?!?!?

It's all Comcast's fault

I have MLB EI and live in the Braves area… And I am blacked out from watching… I will be switching to Directv after baseball season this year where I don’t get blacked out for Braves and Reds games in Nashville.

I say “almost” because of the small matter of a lack of Cubs baseball…

Mutual Days Off

June 15th (Cubs in middle of homestand, Braves traveling between Baltimore and Cincy)
June 22nd (Cubs going from Chicago to Detroit, Braves heading home from Boston, seems decent)
August 24th (Braves in middle of homestand, Cubs flying from LA to Chicago)

My money is on June 22nd as the Cubs would probably violate the CBA to play on August 24th (too many games in a row).

by Qixotl on Jun 4, 2009 7:03 PM CDT reply actions

June 22nd sounds fine if they can't play tonight.

June 15 doesn’t make much sense, and I can’t see baseball violation the rule about too many games in a row.

MLB Network just had a live in stadium

shot and they said there going to get this one in and if it does happen it should be around 10-10:30pm … not 100% sure eastern or central. I would guess Eastern since its on MLBN reporting it

by eternale1 on Jun 4, 2009 7:06 PM CDT reply actions

The closed-circuit feed...

for WGN announced a bit ago that there’s a 90% chance of rain continuing past midnight….So I guess that 10:30 number must just mean that it’ll ease up…

I love my friends

For those of you who watch what you eat , here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Cubs Fan .

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Cubs Fan .

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Cubs Fan .

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Cubs Fan .

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Cubs Fan .

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like. Being a Cubs Fan is apparently what kills you.

Fish up 4-1 on MIL in the 4th..

I really don’t think the brewers are going to be a threat, but that just an opinion. I just don’t think they’re pitching will hold out. I’d give Cincy a better shot than MIL.

Local televison was saying 10-10:30

they would give it a shot. Weather down here isn’t looking too promising though. I just got back after waiting for an hour and a half and the rain is coming down as hard as it was at 7. My guess is probably a ppd.
