someone called him that yesterday.
just seems appropriate :D
I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.

take one for the team!

Wasn't the guy coming down the 3rd base line running inside the line?
he seemed to be on the same path as when theRiot was called out running out a dribbler down the first base line last year. he clearly had quite a bit of his body inside the foul line on Fonty’s throw. I am surprised the Cubs did not complain about that.
You can bet that drunk from St Louis would have complained about the runner if he lost that way.

Pretty ugly
Tough one to lose when you give up four unearned runs. Score one in either of the first two innings and you don’t have to worry about it.
I will say this: I think the Cubs are getting a lot of bad luck. I think I’ve seen more diving catches against this team this year than in the past five years combined. Dickerson is having an All-Star weekend with the glove.
Win tomorrow and win the series and all this is forgotten. Get ’er done.
by Not Bruce Froemming on Jun 6, 2009 10:04 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Absolutely.
And I agree with you about the luck. At this point, even bad luck would be better than the luck the Cubs have gotten.

I agree about the luck
but you can’t run yourself out of two innings and have to rely on the long ball with this team.

I completely agree.
The Cubs need to start manufacturing runs, and not just rely on the home run ball.

how many home runs
have been hit lately? Scales today is one. Other than that? Yesterday’s runs were “manufactured”.

Soto hit a HR today too IIRC.

The Cubs probably should have lost yesterday, probably should have won today. All in all, they’re shooting about par.

I think
that a lot depends on two things:
1) Can Bradley actually get going.
2) What condition does Rami come back in.

I don't think that's going to happen
The Cardinals are thudding right now, and I don’t think the Brewers’ pitching can sustain.

I watched that game tonight
while also watching the Cubs game, and they lit up Wellemeyer like a Roman candle. Carpenter is a stud, but I’m not at all sold on the others, particularly with Lohse now hurt.

The Brewers are starting to scare me
because they are actually getting decent starting pitching and excellent relief pitching. I still expect the starters and bullpen to slip but I’d like to see us quit giving away games too!

The biggest thing for the Brewers
is that Dave Bush has been outstanding and Trevor Hoffman is pitching like the Hoffman of old, not like an old Hoffman. He’s helped put their bullpen into place.

Scoring change
Last play was a fielder’s choice. No throwing error. So it’s an earned run, per Marty Brennaman on the WLW postgame show.

there's a shocker
Although, there is no assumption of making that play so fc is fine. It’s a Reds homegame after all.

Are there any players who we can trade for? Specifically, an infielder who can play all the positions in the IF until Ramirez comes back?

Just those two
but that’s enough.
Who gets the bigger and longer standing O, Wood or DeRosa? And what are the odds of a “Hendry Sucks” chant starting during DeRosa’s at-bat?
Although Reed Johnson did get a standing O last year in Toronto for his first AB. I predict that will be nothing compared to what we’ll see when DeRosa enters the batter’s box at Wrigley.
by Not Bruce Froemming on Jun 6, 2009 11:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I personally think Wood will get the longer standing O
Because of how long he was a Cub. Nothing against DeRosa, but some of Wood’s accomplishments here merit it.
Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a “Hendry sucks” chant in DeRo’s at-bats.

DeRosa deserves a hand, too, but this out-of-whack love for him might skew that somewhat.

Wood definitely deserves it.
When he was on his game, he was among the better pitchers in baseball. The first sign we got of how good he could be came in a certain start against Houston in 1998.

Freel
is supposed to be that guy. So was Miles. There’s some guys out there, but I don’t know what we give in return without going for someone who is a dreg. Freddie Sanchez might be available, but what do you give the Pirates? They’re going to want good prospects, and we need the ones we have.

Do you really think
the Pirates are going to trade Sanchez?
Trading McLouth makes a little sense, because they’re pretty high on McCutchen. Is there anybody in their system who can replace Sanchez?
by Not Bruce Froemming on Jun 6, 2009 11:15 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Who exactly can we give them?
We need to keep our prospects, so if we do trade, who will end up going? I can’t really think of anyone, though I don’t keep up with our farm system as much as I should.
