I am saying
We get this rookie out of the game in 5, after a D. Lee HR.
"Every player should be accorded the privilege of at least one season with the Chicago Cubs. That's baseball as it should be played - in God's own sunshine. And that's really living."
When did Dempster get a blister?
Len and Bob just mentioned it on his middle finger.
"Every player should be accorded the privilege of at least one season with the Chicago Cubs. That's baseball as it should be played - in God's own sunshine. And that's really living."
Ah, must have missed that start
Birthday weekend was hectic.

Yes,

Simple
It’s a guy who has had to learn a new position at the major league level. Fonty is not a third baseman, and it’s unrealistic to expect him to play perfect defense.

Really? Sori got lucky 3 times fouling off bad pitches… and then he swung at the same thing he got lucky to hit… that guy threw 4 change ups in a row… I mean come on
he saw a lot of pitches
But, yeah, the strikeout invalidates my comment.
This kid is tipping his pitches pretty bad
His glove is wide open to 2B and he really holds the ball away from him in his windup

Its the same thing over and over again
The team has such very little discipline.
Soriano, outside of the first two weeks, has been in the bottom half of left fielders at the plate and might be the worst leftfielder in the game on defense (top five at best).
Scales…I cant even imagine what was going on in his head
When you are down so many key parts you cant make the kinds of mistakes.
Nice throw there by Geo
Well said!
Add the fielding and baserunning errors and you wonder if you’re not watching a little league. Why can’t Dempster pitch consistently?

This game is starting to remind me of

Yeah... memories. That night turned out alright. I think this one will too.

Is it on the Superstation?

Unfortunately, I'm not watching...
Is the screen still blinking?

I dont agree
He has been bailed out by some really bad at bats, a great play by dickerson, and poor cubs base running. I havent seen him make any really outstanding pitches.
agreed
the Cubs are back to slop ball after a crisp though offensively ineffective night last night.

Agreed
String together a few good Cubs hits, and we’ll be right back in this game.

what momentum are you referring to?
we have a great starting pitching staff, they keep us in ballgames and they have all year. Our offense has ZERO momentum unless you call scoring 2 runs a game momentum. Today’s offense is the same as yesterday’s and the Braves’ series. In a word, awful. And I’m balancing the negative with the positive – we have fantastic starting pitching, but we have what may be the bottom rung of offense.
Our starters haven't been fantastic
But they’ve been good enough to keep us in games. Now if we could just get some runs.

LAst I checked
the starters were in the top 5 in the league.
They're very good
I’m just reserved about what I label as “fantastic.”

We won two straight
so we were building a little something. Three in a row on the road and you start moving.
But you are certainly right that the offense is one of the worst in the league and that is simply amazing given what we had hoped for this season.
Can't argue that our offense has been underperforming.
And yet we are just 2 back in the loss column. So we have that going for us.
Say this much for big league baseball - it is beyond question the greatest conversation piece ever invented in America. ~Bruce Catton
Still early in the game...
however, history has not been kind to the Cubs when they face rookies. Dusty used to bitch about it when he was managing us.
People MUST start improving with RISP and stop even thinking about, “When A-Ram comes back, we’ll be alright.”
