Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

I went to SI.com and I found this article. Think of power rankings that we're used to reading, but looks at how the teams have drafted over the last decade. It should be no secret that the Brewers are very high on this list (#1) and we are nowhere near that (#25). It painfully describes why we haven't been too great in this department. I kind of wish it would go back farther, but that's how it is. It covers the biggest steal each team has had, the biggest dud, the biggest name to be unsigned, and the biggest name to be cut . To save people some time, I pulled out some of the more important ones for conversation and also to cover the Kane County Cougars, the closest IL-based farm club to Chicago:

Milwaukee Brewers: #1
Florida Marlins (former parent of Kane County Cougars): #10
Pittsburgh Pirates: #12
St. Louis Cardinals: #13
Oakland A's (current parent of Kane County Cougars): #16
Chicago Cubs: #25
Cincinnati Reds: #28
Chicago White Sox: #29
Houston Astros: #30

Don't shoot the messenger if seems off, it is SI after all.

Just imagine Lincecum

Obviously he made the smart move by waiting another 2 drafts and going the first round rather than the 48th, but that wouldve been awesome

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

I buy that rank.

The Cubs have drafted flat out terribly the last decade. The first rounders have been terrible. SI screwed up though and missed Jon Garland. However, I think the Cubs have had pretty good success with Oneri Fleita and the Latin American development program.

And Tim Wilken has had a dubious start to his Cub career

You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little messed up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?
