Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

This was reported on Deadspin.com, but I have it on good personal sources as well, that he'll begin his tenure there in the next few weeks.

Boy oh boy, am I glad I cancelled my subscription to that ghastly publication this week.

Wow.

That’s brutal.

The upshot is, he is physically incapable of writing anything without “Tribster” references, so he should be fairly quiet.

What is bothering me the most right now is

how the Trib has offered him a sweet compensation package, and they’ve fired over 200 newsroom people this year alone, including some friends and my mentor and guru.

One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.

aw, man

I had really hoped we’d never see his face again.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.

"Chicago Tribune Live" on CSN

will feature him too, according to my sources. But this hasn’t been finalized.

One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.

Yawn.

The Tribune is shrinking by the day. This will further marginalize him.

Exactly.

His big rant against how the print media was dying and he was so impressed by the turn towards the New Media when he was covering the Olympics in China turns out to have been a gold medal performance in the 100m Talking-Out-Your-Ass Relay. Yet another reason not to read that hack rag.

Does this...

…make the Trib’s sports section a +1 and the Sun Times’ a -1?

Now I have to stop reading the Trib

Just like I did a few years back when I grew tired of Mariotti at the Sun-Times. Al is right, the Trib is dying. I view the Trib looking at Mariotti, and the Score bringing back McNeil in the same light. Desperate moves.

by Nibbles on Jul 1, 2009 10:00 PM CDT reply actions

You think the McNeil move was desperate?

I just figured his ESPN show had pretty good ratings, and he was available, that it only made sense to bring him back to WSCR.

man

i used to listen to the score with hamp and holmes doing the mid morning show. i can’t stand it anymore. mcneil is horrendous on the air. worse than boers and bernstein.

It's not about money. It's about winning and getting over the hump. We've had the appetizer now, but we left the main course on the table.

Just when I thought this season couldn't get any worse.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
