BP on sale of the Cubs
I'm pretty sure most of it is just for subscribers, but Shawn Hoffman (who wrote the article and also runs Squawkingbaseball.com) believes the deal will eventually get done with Ricketts.

I agree with the conclusion.
One thing Hoffman doesn’t seem to understand is that the Cubs (and thus, Ricketts) own 25% of CSN Chicago — they don’t have to “make a deal” with a channel they’re part-owner of!

I'm not a subscriber, so I can't read much of it
But how would 25% ownership make it so you don’t still have to work out a deal? I’m assuming what I’m missing is what’s in the rest of the article. Just curious. Thanks.
Well...
… it’s not as if they have to make an independent contract with a company that’s owned by someone else.
And no, there’s nothing missing about that part in the rest of the article.

Maybe he's referring to making a deal with the parties (Blackhawks, Bulls, Sox)
that own the other 75% of the channel?
Hey, it's a new century!

This makes at least the 2,457th report that predicts that the deal will eventually get done with Ricketts
It’s like predicting that that sun shall set in the West next Tuesday evening.
