he once brought his phone over because it kept beeping and he didn’t know why. It was a text from my sister, which she accidentally sent him instead of me. Apparently his phone had been beeping at him for a day or two.

Nothwithstanding this wind-blown Wrigley HR

Pujols hits the ball farther and harder than anyone. He has to be among the strongest hitters in the game. Ahem.

Ridiculous

You have to pitch to Pujols when he comes up first in the inning. Ludwick hits home runs, too.

Off topic but Bob Watson is an arse
Baltimore manager Dave Trembley has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount following his ejection in the first inning of the Orioles’ game against the Seattle Mariners earlier this week.

Bob Watson, Major League Baseball’s vice president in charge of discipline, said Friday that Trembley violated a rule that states an ejected manager must take no further part in a game.

Trembley was tossed Tuesday night for arguing a baserunning call. He told reporters after the game that when Luke Scott(notes) came into the clubhouse, Trembley told him to "get me a couple" runs.

I think that I do this, but to type endlessly that Soriano needs to understand the strike zone...

Seems a bit repetive. Say it once, then after that, comments on the current at bat seem appropriate. For Sorryano it is not a case to be debated. He doesn’t understand what a strike looks like, the whole league knows it, he flails at pitches that are unhittable, and he hurts the team with his lack or inability to play fundamental baseball (taking good routes to fly balls, staying focussed throughout the play, communicating to other fielders, moving the runner, etc….). What kind of analysis do you want?

Us watching the game at home does not help the team win. Don't you ever know when to cut and run on a telecast?

Don’t you ever feel after suffering through a game like this that you wasted the time? Are you a masochist? I just don’t understand. After a game like this, I will feel like shit all night.

THEN STOP WATCHING.

But don’t rag on me because I don’t stop watching, or because I still want them to win. How hard is that to understand? It’s like you guys went to the bathroom and fell in, and feel a need to storm into the living room, scattering crap and used toilet paper everywhere, screaming LOOK WHAT HAPPENED!

My ex wife used to pull crap like that. It’s a big reason why she’s my ex-wife.

If you don’t want to feel like this when they lose, just stop watching.

because this team

has never come from 5 down before?

I know they’re not playing well. I don’t look at the record and say “wow, isn’t this great”. I’m not fantasizing. I know this team has the ability to win more games. I hope they do it. Either way, I still go out there and say “LET’S GET SOME RUNS” every inning.

I watched them at Wrigley come back against the Indians from being 7 down

I watched them at Wrigley last September when they came back to beat the Brewers. I watched them on TV overcome a double digit deficit, and the season before that I watched them go from last to first. You’re a fool to believe this team, or any team for that matter, can’t come back. No one is unhittable, not Carpenter, not Lincecum, etc. It’s like talking about guys that won’t get knocked out. Everyone can be KO’d, whether if it’s Pac, Fedor, Lyoto, etc.

+1

I don’t get why so many people are on here just to get pissed and rant and rave. If it’s that painful to watch then turn your tv off and go outside. Otherwise be a FAN and root for your team beacuse all the crap talking doesn’t help anyone at all.

Most of the ones who rant and rave don't even have a basic understanding of the game of baseball.

Ok, we star this again. Listen up...

Even Al concurs on this, so listen up. This board serves many purposes, chief among them is communicating with people who are passionate about the cubs. For whatever reason, we don’t have a living room full of people to converse with about the game. I don’t live near my cub fan family, and I don’t have any cub fan close friends (I live in St. Louis). Venting is cathartic. Venting with people who share your likes, dislikes, feelings, etc….can be extremely cathartic. When your team is letting you down…and doing it so spectacularly, and you spend money and time on them, it is FRUSTRATING. PERIOD. This is not just a board for those people like Sue, NBF, and Drew, and Joe, etc… but it is also a place where people like Kanderber and myself and others can vent a little (especially when done properly). Please, stop engaging in this discourse of “just go away”. It is insulting, and you have no right to it. Thank you for your support. Realize, we have been dealing with a tremendously underacheiving team, filled with negative personalities (not all, I know), and today we have witnessed TERRIBLE baseball. A six inning implosion of pitching, fielding, and poor fundamentals. Followed by a response by the batters of having the side struck out, followed by a leadoff walk, and that crappy defense on a ball where the cardinals are trying to give us outs. GET REAL PEOPLE!!

I root for my team

A lot of people on this board do something else. If they can win this game, then I cheer. If they can’t, I say “get ’em tomorrow.” And I simply don’t see the point of people coming on this board just to rip the players and people who refuse to get all negative.

Go Cubs.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

by drewishdrewid on Jul 10, 2009 4:19 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

And I don't understand why you respond to them.

These aren’t your boards. You are not their police. Keep rooting for them, seriously, we need all EDUCATED perspectives. Just don’t piss on those that are different so quickly. You seriously have the quickest trigger, and the most arrogant attitude all of the time. More and more people are noticing. KEEP ROOTING, just don’t be such a pain when others who have the right to say what they want to say something. If it is directed at you or one of your posts, then let’s discourse. Otherwise, back off. I will do the same.

GO CUBS (as if you are implying that I don’t feel the same way). Nice….

I don’t think that’s the case whatsoever. In fact, I’m responding to fewer and fewer posts. The difference here is that the negative nancies are becoming hysterical, and explode over any contradiction.

Ok, listen up...

Fell free to do whatever you want on here. However, don’t expect anyone to respect anything you have to say. If you need to vent, go find a hobby. There’s a reason that you like the Cubs and as a fellow fan I just don’t understand the need to yell “SORIANO SUCKS” or “F&@K THIS TEAM, THE CUBS SUCK”.

If you wanna vent then go ahead, but do it in a way where you don’t come across as a kindergartener who didn’t get his nap time.

I’m addressing all the people on here who automatically started spewing garbage like that the second Sori dropped the ball.

And you may think Soriano sucks, but he is a key piece to this team being successful.

4-3 when Heilman enters...

A half inning later it’s 8-3. I know Soriano is a waste of space and contributed to the shitty inning, but Aaron Heilman is a complete failure of a pitcher.

Heilman didn't drop the ball at third or drop the ball in the outfield

If not for any of those, this would only be 7-3. Soriano and Ramirez gave up that last run.

Why in the world does Lou still use Heilman?

The guy can’t pitch in pressure games….I think that was shown last year when he was with the Mets.

by aznsensation on Jul 10, 2009 3:57 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Cause Harden sucks and can't go more than 5 innings...

without throwing 100 pitches. So Lou has to go with an inning eater. Even though the inning eater is a failure.
