Fuld was taken out of the game because he was called up by Chicago to take the roster spot of the injured Geovany Soto.

Only for the next three games.

I figure over the break the Cubs will find another catcher.

I first said Johnson.

But it appears he’s on a 7 (yes 7) day DL stint.

They do have a 7 day DL in Triple-A.

We’ll probably see the Cubs go after a backup during the All-Star break.

And he'll probably

Only catch sunday for the double header.

Well, I can think of one person here who will be very happy about this.

I saw in this in the box score

that Fuld was taken out after only 2 AB and this is exactly what I thought. I was going to post that maybe he was coming up but I thought you guys would tell me I was NUTS. Also he had grounded out on the very last play before he was removed so either he was coming up or he twisted something.

So Koyie Hill...

is going to catch both games on Sunday?

by kanderber on Jul 11, 2009 8:32 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

He could.

It’s not as if there are only 20 minutes between games — he should have at least three hours to rest.

Yeah but...

Considering catchers rarely catch a day game after a night game… with, what, 15 hours of rest? It just seems like asking alot.

It is a lot, however...

he also get’s the 3 day break after Sunday.

i doubt it.

I don’t think i’ve ever seen one catcher play both games of a double header.

Maybe he and Fox

will split the second game.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

In 1968...

… Randy Hundley caught 160 games. He started 156.

He caught both games of a doubleheader seven times that year.

Used to happen a lot...

….. and even when double headers were regularly scheduled. Four man rotations and 300 IP too.
