This inning = fail
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
When are Cubs pitchers ever going to learn to not walk players in front of Pujols?
He’s the best player in the world and Zambrano is worried about Colby Rasmus. Give me a break.
Milton ...... see the ball hit the ball
When will they learn not to pitch to Pujols?
I’d honestly walk the guy with bases loaded if you’ve got a lead or you’re in a close ball game with the Cardinals leading.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
agreed. lou said he wasn't going to let him beat us.
so far, he’s killing us. just walk him.

It's a matter of pride
That’s my only explanation for people pitching to Pujols. Let him break the record for most intentional walks in a season. I don’t care.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
I would do the same
but that’s why I’m at home folding laundry watching the game and not managing the Cubs.
Now, if the Cubs wanna call me….
"Believe or leave."
HAHAHAH!
Amen brother. (And I’m folding laundry too…)
One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.
I'm folding laundry while the better half is getting her nails done
but I get the Cubs on TV for 3 hours
"Believe or leave."
pretty disappointing game from Z

disappointing inning
he seemed to be doing fine before. Some bloop hits, but getting outs.
That's big talk for a little guy,
but I'm walkin' without reply.

bloop hits only hurt you, when you walk people in front of Pujols

he still has maybe a couple of more innings to redeem himself
he just has to get ahead of these hittters

plus side
we are tried, not losing.
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
really?
huh. He just gave us the lead, and put the meat of the order down, 1-2-3 (with that weird play from Riot/Baker)
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

Does that mean Z will repeat his performace in the 1st?

And once again
Can’t drive in runners in scoring position. That’s what we’ve come to know with this club and it’s incredibly embarrassing.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Thats called show boating
He assumed it was gonna be caught and he wanted to show off how he hustles. If you actually were thinking ahead to the possibility of the ball being dropped, there is no way you should be trying for second.
Ball 4!
by californiachicagoan on Jul 12, 2009 1:34 PM CDT up reply actions
Wut?
So hustling is now show boating? It was clear the ball was in the sun and Theriot looked like he was having an adventure out there trying to find it.

and he was never going to make 2nd.
He was “hustling” assuming it was gonna be caught. Is it “hustling” to get thrown out trying to stretch a routine single into an easy out at 2nd?
Ball 4!
by californiachicagoan on Jul 12, 2009 1:37 PM CDT up reply actions
He was barely tagged out...
And he probably saw Theriot having a hell of a time out there trying to find the ball, so he kept running hard. I don’t think he assumed it would be caught.

Best case scenario
Would have been Bradley actually offering at that 3-1 pitch instead of worrying about clogging the bases. Fastball high? Give me a break.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Moreland is correct
With 3-1, you look for a pitch to drive.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
ya exactly.
but to play devils advocate for a second. its is 3-1 and you are looking for your pitch. a lot of leftys like pitches low and in. not high and outside. but with milton he has not hit enough from the left side to know what pitches he likes from left side.

Knew it
This movie is getting old. No surprise that they’re last in batting average with runners in scoring position.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
and last in the league in getting a runner in from third with less than two outs.
so, not only can they not get a hit, they can’t even hit a sac fly.

They're relying on the long ball too much
That’s what’s killing this team. All four runs have been driven in by the long ball.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
but weren't
yesterdays runs were off of doubles etc?
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

Yesterday. Next you’re gonna tell me that Bill Clinton isn’t an adulterer because he didn’t cheat on his wife yesterday.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
I'm saying
that they score runs the same way every other team does — some home runs, some not. You’re the one suggesting that they can’t score runs the other way. It’s a variable.
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

No
I am speaking from an observation throughout the season. You are using a small sample size from yesterday. Big difference.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
I'm using yesterday
as an example.
Whatever.

i don't think that's it.
i think they have a poor approach to situational hitting and piniella doesn’t do nearly enough to force the issue. i’d like to see him call squeezes and hit and runs all over the place for a while.
