The Lord Will Provide

One day in a small town during really stormy weather, the town
begins to flood. Everyone rushes to lifeboats and begins to
flee. But in a church a prriest sits on the alter and does not
move. A man runs up to him.

Man- “Father, come quickly, we have a lifeboat ready for you”.

Priest- No, there is no need for me to flee for the lord will
provide and he will save me".

Man- “Suit yourself”

A few hours later the water has risen up to the alter where the
priest is standing. A lifeboat zooms through the door with a few
men in it. One man calls to the priest.

Man- “Father come quickly”

Priest- "No, for the lord will provide and he will save me.

So the lifeboat zooms off. A few hours later the water has risen
up to the crucifix on which the priest is hanging on. A lifeboat
zooms in.

Man- Father, the town is flooding, you must come with us to
safety.

Priest- No, the lord will provide. He will save me.

A few hours later the water rose up to the roof and the priest
drowned. Later in heaven the priest met god and said:

Man- "Lord, why didn’t you save me? I had so much faith.

God- What are you talking about!!!!!! I sent 3 bloody lifeboats
to rescue you?

Here's what I wish

After a horrible swing by Sori on strike one or two, Lou calls time and comes out of the dugout and stands behind Sori and, like our dads did with us when we were little, guides him through a nice, level swing. Right there in front of a national TV audience.

I'm not a big fan of Soriano at all....and don't miss the occasional booing when he drops a flyball.

But just chronic booing of him is not warranted IMHO.

Hey, why not have the bullpen guys practice outfield

So they can do righty-lefty switches throughout the late inning without wasting pitchers? Instead of bringing in RJ they could have Heilman play LF while the lefties bat. Etc.

The 79 Pirates did this too

in a game vs the Giants. Kent Tekulve went to LF after getting the 2nd out (a RH hitter), in case the next hitter (LH) got a hit – the on deck hitter was a RH and Tekulve could return to the mound to face him. So the LH hitter of course hits a fly to left and Tekulve snares it to end the game.

In Joe Morgan's world

the strike zone expands when you have 2 strikes. He wouldn’t even acknowledge that those were bad strike calls. And on that 3rd ball off the plate that wasn’t called a strike was barely any farther off the plate, but he made it sound like it was thrown into the stands.

i think the cardinals will have a strong second half. their bullpen is solid, starting rotation is solid. they should get either derosa or glaus back, perhaps both, and ludwick looks poised to go on a tear.

the cubs are going to have to have a dominant second half (like 15 games above .500) to win this division in my opinion.

then again, pujols could pull a hamstring or something and they’d look pretty listless. i think soriano is going to come around and hit about .280 or so with 10 homeruns in the second half—nothing amazing, but respectable. his approach has improved somewhat.

Yep

I’ve the cap tipping comment way to many times this year. They had their chances but couldn’t deliver. The 9th inning was the biggest joke of an effort I have ever seen.

No

I don’t get pissed with every loss because I know enough about baseball to know everyone is going to lose at least 40% of their games…

The White Sox are 2 games over .500

We have the same winning percentage as the Astros. The f*cking Astros. The Marlins are better than us. Seattle! Waaaaay better than us.

And the Astros always play unbelievably well in the second half.

We gotta stay healthy?

Lou? We aren’t healthy now, so staying healthy would be impossible.

Yes it was.

He said the key to the 2nd half is that we gotta stay healthy(we’re not healthy now) and gotta start hitting. That was all I saw.

The sad thing is...

The Cubs can split with the Nats, and lots of people here will be satisfied with that. You need AT LEAST 3 out of 4

by cubfanwill on Jul 12, 2009 10:15 PM CDT reply actions

I will only be satisfied

by a SWEEP.

splitting with the Cardinals

is a LOT different then splitting with the Nats. We need 3/4 from the Nats.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.
