the heilman fanshot seems to be gone now

i think it is pretty simple; heilman is walking too many batters. he has been employed full time in mlb now for 6 seasons+; somebody must think he has potential.

why aaron will not throw strikes & challenge hitters w/his fastball that can hit 95+, combined w/ an effective change & a serviceable slider i will NEVER know

by brian custer on Jul 19, 2009 3:28 PM CDT reply actions

there isa probably a lot

of truth to this, jesus. he is literally scared to come over the plate; his bombs are down but his walks are WAY up. shouldn’t rothschild be helping aaron w/this glitch??

I think today's whipping boy is Hill

by mgrace17 on Jul 19, 2009 3:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Off-topic question.

Does it count as a save for the Shark if he finishes this game? I have seen four-inning saves in situations similar to this one.

For example, there was this game in 2007.

Cubs record since April 2004: 4-0

by Vermont Cubs Fan on Jul 19, 2009 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Check the surrounding comments.

If you come into a game and pitch at least the last three innings, you get a save, regardless of what the score is when you come in.

by slcathena on Jul 19, 2009 3:33 PM CDT up reply actions

I stand corrected

Rule 10.20 in the Official Rule Book states:
Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and
(2) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:
- (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or
- (b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces; or
- © He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game
