Biggest Cub Killer?
During lunch the other day a self important fan who i will call 'Steve Hagino' was drooling all over Albert Pujols and how great he was. I mentioned that Albert has not been that terrible to the Cubs over the years and that Carlos Zambrano actually has held him to a low batting average.
As a cheap shot to my friend: even though Steve has been a fan for a long time he only recently visited Fenway to see a game. Anyway I digress; this lead to a discussion as to who the biggest Cub Killer was today. The names Fielder, Carlos Lee, Albert Pujols, and Corey Patterson all came into the mix. just kidding about the last one.
I personally thought Carlos Lee probably has the career Cub Killer numbers but that Fielder has the more recently better numbers. So for discussion purposes I am going to define Cub Killer as that guy who puts the dagger in a certain game, who puts the L in the L flag, not necessarily the guy with a statistical advantage but the guy who just terrorizes our already torturedfanbase :-) Vote early and often....
Yes i purposely left off: Milton Bradley and the Gatorade Machine- technically that would be a Cub suicide.

Stats to save you the time
06-09 numbers vs cubs
AB_____ H____HR____ RBI____ SO____ BA____ OPS
Alberto:
184___ 52____13____ 39 ____ 23____ .283____ .900
Fatty McBocaBurger
172____52____13____ 33____ 42_____.302____ 1.014
El Gordo
148____49____13____ 28____ 17_____ .331____ 1.040
Now i don’t believe in stats (unless they back up my point) so this is still open to discussion. The biggest number here is Als Ks which he has more against Cubs pitching than any other team the last 3 years.

Right.
There is no doubt in my mind that Dunn, who never misses a game, could have had a monster season in the Cubs lineup this year.

everyone knows Dunn
is a clubhouse cancer- why take a risk on a guy who bounces around from team (cincy) to team (az, nats). I’d rather have the rock solid Milton ‘no regrets’ Bradley!

Funny you say that...
Back in 06, before a game, like hours before, Dunn was out playing catch with a football. Him and another player were running routes and having a blast. When i talked to Dunn he seemed about as laid back of a guy as could be. I would have guessed he was perfect for the clubhouse.

Since when is Adam Dunn
I Clubhouse Cancer? He played with Cincinnati his whole career, he gets traded at the deadline and then AZ doesn’t want to resign him, so Dunn signs as a FA with the Nats. I believe you have Milton and Adam confused considering Milton has been on about as many teams as the Cubs have won games this year

And Randy would always
seemingly send the Cubs into a week long slump- it was like he hypnotized the entire lineup. I think this is why Lou sat the starters vs Lincecum earlier this year… no post-stud psychological slump…

Cub killers in recent history
I was glad to see Biggio and Bagwell retire (Berkman is still a Cub killer) and for Mike Lowell and Nate McLouth (emerging Cub killer) to leave the division.

Steve Finley
not sure of his stats against us but I always remember him killing us one way or another.
1993 maybe? a game vs the giants and Rick Wilkins was the batter… he hits what would have been a home run if Finley didn’t rob it. (I was 9…. and that’s my first impression of Steve Finley)
I also remember him killing us when he was on the DBacks just a few seasons ago… it seemed like facing the Cubs turned his season around.

Ryan Braun
and hopefully Dempster gets a little pay back tonight for that little jog he made at Miller Park few months ago. I hate the guy with a passion even more after the other night playing the Mets, running home after he came all the way around to score on a few errors on the play and takes his helmet off before he even touches home. But he is still a damn good player.

I feel like
Craig Counsell and his cockamamie swing seems to always come up with big hits against the Cubs. I may bo over-noticing it because I think he’s an asshole though.
Quick Counsell story. I have a friend who was waiting tables at a mexican restaurant near Miller Park. Counsell and some buddies came in, stayed for hours, had a huge bill, acted like jerks while they were there. The friend was nice the whole time and took their abuse. When it came time to pay the bill, he paid it but left no tip. He told her, and I am not makiing it up, that her tip was the priveledge of serving him, Craig Counsell.

Hmmm, have you actually looked at their numbers vs the Cubs?
I did not look at their respective numbers before my earlier reply, but I did look them up fater your post. You should, I bet you will be surprised.
As for the original question, I looked at the question another way: if the Cubs were one out away from a WS berth, which guy would you least like to see in the batter’s box: Fielder, CLee or Pujols? I don’t really care what the career numbers of each guy is against the Cubs, I would MUCH rather pitch to either Fielder or CLee than Sir Albert.

Here's one
How about Josh Beckett when he was with the Marlins. How many games did he pitch in the 03 NLCS? 3 or 4? It honestly feels like 4 because it’s hard to imagine the Cubs completely folding to another pitcher like Josh Beckett. Sure there’s Randy Johnson, but in what could have been our finest hour as Cubs fans, it was Beckett who stood in the way.
