Look what happens when guys take pitches and get ahead in the count

Pinella has a real, real interesting decision to make tomorrow with Fuld and Soriano. It is going to be extremely interesting to see how he handles it. To have a leadoff hitter that takes pitches and works a count has a ripple effect.

by BeltwayCubsFan on Jul 2, 2009 8:26 PM CDT reply actions

Soriano

has plenty of walks this year. It’s an easy decision. When Sori is ready, Fuld hits the bench.

At this point.. the only thing wrong with the Cubs..

Is that their three starting outfielders are in a hitting slump, and a little inconsistency from Marmol. This is fixable.

sort of..

Marshall has been very good, Guzman – good, Gregg – good. I go back no forrth on Heilman, but that only leaves Patton, who never pitches anyway. I’d like to see a pickup of a Class A+ closer at some point, but there not bad as they are..

Uecker: "BIll Kurtis is here to sing TMOTTBG. They'll cheer for him I'm sure"

Earlier he told the story of when he himself (Uecker) was booed throughout his entire rendition of TMOTTBG at Wrigley, followed by Cubs fans singing it a capella. The Cubs broadcasters apologized to him but he says he really didn’t mind – “it was a pennant race.”

"I'll root, root root for the Brewers...

And you do the same for the Cubs" is what he sang IIRC.

That's what he does

And usually it goes down OK, but this one time he was booed start to finish.

Have to say I’m enjoying listing to the WTMJ broadcast; haven’t had the need to switch back to Pat & Ron. Unlike, say, when the White Sox broadcasts.
