Yes, he does.
He entered the game with the tying run at the plate, so he gets the save, even though when it ended the Cubs were up 5.

Agreed.

5-2 road trip
I predicted 4-3. I’m right even when I’m wrong.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Good win. Solid road trip, overall.
Made up at least 1.5 games on the trip – can’t complain about that.

I know.
But if Houston wins tonight, then the Cubs are 1 game back and 1 game up in the loss column – even better.
And with the teams coming to Wrigley, this team, as flawed as it may be, has a chance to be in first by the end of the Cincinnati series.

sure can't.
Winning yesterday would have been a hell of a road trip. but 5-2 road trip. you take that every time. esp with koyie hill in lineup. Harden looked good on trip. Marmol looked good. hopefully see rammi and fonzi get it going some more.

great victory. Really good sign that they did not sit on the lead. Contributions from up and down the lineup.
Now to a nice homestand.
enjoy tomorrow's day off...
and let’s keep the streak going against reds and ’stros
All right, I'm off!
Great win today!

Now, what I'd like for someone to explain to me is this:
why is THIS Cubs team less likely to make more appearances then YESTERDAY’S Cubs team?
You can’t put this off to it being a poor opponent this time. We sucked against them on Monday, nearly fought them to a standstill yesterday, and beat the crap out of them today. Why do people think that yesterday’s team is the norm?
ReJo 1-5 with 1 RBI, 1 walk.
Riot, 3-5 with 1 walk and 2 runs scored.
Lee 1-3 with 1 RBI, 3 walks, 2 runs scored.
Ramirez 2-4 with 2 RBIS, 2 walks, 2 runs scored.
Bradley, 2-4 with 1 RBI, 1 walk, 1 run scored.
Soriano, 2-5 with 1 RBI, 1 run scored.
Baker, 1-3 with 2 RBIS
Fukudome, 1-1
13 hits, 10 runs scored, 9 walks and only 6 Ks.
This is OUR TEAM.
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.
because yesterday's team has made more appearances than this team over the course of the season
by WanderingWanderer on Jul 22, 2009 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions
really?
our record is 48-45. Obviously the winning Cubs team has appeared more often then the losing Cubs team. Surely you can’t argue with THAT statistic.
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.
by drewishdrewid on Jul 22, 2009 4:22 PM CDT up reply actions
we have won a majority of our games thanks to great pitching
while the offense has been sub par most of the season. Even you should be able to admit that
by WanderingWanderer on Jul 22, 2009 4:59 PM CDT up reply actions
of course.
nevertheless, I continue to wonder why today’s Cub’s team isn’t celebrated and expected to be duplicated.
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.
by drewishdrewid on Jul 22, 2009 5:08 PM CDT up reply actions
it is celebrated
and I’ve already explained why it isn’t expected to be duplicated, as has SWL
by WanderingWanderer on Jul 22, 2009 5:10 PM CDT up reply actions
Probably because...
Milton Bradley has only had a mulit hit game 11 times this year
The last time Theriot stole more than one base in a game was April
Ramirez has been hurt for a long time
Soriano has been MIA for almost 2 months until this last week.
But I’m glad everyone contributed today.
As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

All for it
Harden v. Wandy “freakin” Rodriguez
Z v. Oswalt (very cool)
Wells v. Hampton
Lilly v. Ortiz
Should be interesting. (These matchups are pending the non-change of both teams current rotation)

Yeah...
… I was really conflicted for this game. Didn’t want the Astros to stay hot, but obviously didn’t want the Cards to win either.
