Fangraphs on the DeRosa trade
"This trade is a perfect (and rare) example of what can happen when a general manager executes a successful trade of a veteran player who has just one year left on his existing contract."

In all seriousness, this is the perfect use of a Fanshot.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Why thank you.
But you do know I didn’t post this Fanshot, right?

In blogs there’s nothing so becomes a man as modest stillness and humility.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

Actually, I didn't
I think I was seeing your fanshot of catchers falling out of the sky, and just, for some reason, parlayed that into thinking this was your fanshot. But still, I stand by my statement.

An extra comment on Gaub
The article points out that his floor at this point is pretty much your basic LOOGY. His ceiling is that he could be a left-handed Carlos Marmol

Hendry did well overall

No, Hendry didn't do well
Don’t you get it? This is Mark DeRosa we’re talking about! If the 3 players Hendry got from Cleveland were Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, and Victor Martinez, it still wouldn’t have been good enough.

Well, it was a bumpy ride...
…but the Cubs seem to have weathered the DeRo storm – i.e., lack of depth at 3B when Aramis went down. So, yeah, Hendry may well have come out on top.

Sure, they weathered it.
I mean, the team didn’t fold or anything. But they sure didn’t get much production out of third or second base while Ramirez was out. Maybe in time, though, the benefit we could have expected from having DeRosa covering one of those spots will look small compared to what we got. I’m really not sure.

If by "weathered"
you mean the Cubs played barely .500 ball and got almost zero production at DeRo’s positions while people were injured (Sori, Bradley, Ramirez), then yes, we weathered it. But there had to be at least a few games that we likely would have won if DeRo was still on the team. We’ll see where we’re at in October, but there is a decent chance a handful of wins would’ve made the difference.

DeRosa has been worth 1.4 wins this season
Having him around would have netted only one more win over what the Cubs put out there this season

That's exactly what I meant by weathered.
