Batting Practice

I know this didn't qualify as a FanPost, but I am going to Wrigley on Wednesday vs the Astros. I have never seen batting practice at Wrigley and was wondering what time I should get there to see the Cubs take BP. Thanks in advance for help!

Gates open two hours before game time.

… on Wednesday, that will be 11:20. Cubs start BP before that, but you’ll see about the last 1/2 hour of it if you get there when the gates open.

If you go to the RF corner on Sheffield, you can stand at the knothole gate and watch some of it through there.

do you

have to stay in the bleachers during BP? It seems like when I was there in 2002, you couldn’t get in to the regular seating area if you had bleacher tickets. Do I remember that correctly? Thanks for the info!

Bleacher ticket holders...

… can now go to the other side of the park. They will scan you in and out, so bring your ticket with you.

I know they open 2 hours before game time, but

when should I get in line to get some good seats in the GA bleachers?

Probably about 1/2 hour before the gates open.

Although, the lines were VERY long last night. Couldn’t figure out why.

That's IF the Cubs take batting practice...

Today they didn’t, but the Reds did.

Wednesday is the biggest IF, too, because it will be a day game after a night game, the sixth game in a row, and a possibility of rain. Generally, each of these conditions don’t favor on-field batting practice.

If I were a betting man, I’d check the knothole and have a back up plan.
If I were a drinking man, I’d come in as soon as the gates opened and buy a beer from myself.

Come visit me inside Wrigley along the Addison side mezzanine fence straight up from 1st base.

How much do you tip yourself?

Hahaha. Thanks ballhawk!! Great question.

I’d probably be buying 2 beers, in which case I’d leave myself $2, especially on the first round. Thereafter, a buck every 2 beers makes myself happy.

In any case, I’d always leave my quarters.

Agreed

Tipping a little heavy on the first round makes for a better experience for all involved – it’s the ultimate win-win scenario! ;-)

tipping is important

without it, you may wait a long time for the next drink. last time i was at a bar i started the night with a $20 tip, never had to wait for my next drink

baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
