Photos from yesterday's game
I had the good fortune of sitting pretty low yesterday and decided to bring my camera along for the the game. I was pretty happy with the results and thought that some of you would like to check them out as well.

Wow. These are pretty good.
I love the pic of the guy in the Ditka T-Shirt. Classic.
Great action shots. Very well done.

These are great shots from a fan
You must have been using a really fast shutter on a lot of those shots… what kind of lens were you using? Very, very nice shots.

Thanks!
I was using a 300mm on all of the shots. The shutter speed floated between 1/2500th and 1/8000th.

Great pics!
I’m going to the SD series and sitting in pretty good seats behind the visitor’s dugout. Any tips you can give a novice photographer? Is a point and shoot okay… any suggestions or links to info would be welcomed. Thanks for sharing your pics!

It is all about anticipation.
… and luck. Know the situation. Is the runner on first going to steal? Then maybe prefocus on second base anticipating the action there. That sort of thing really can make a difference.
Your point and shoot is going to cause you some problems because they are notoriously slow focusing and there is always a lag between the time you press the shutter and the camera takes the picture. While taking pictures of batters you can anticipate when the ball will be in the picture after taking some shots. This just comes down to timing it right. On plays in the field the shutter lag may cause you some headaches but this is where knowing the game of baseball could really help you (see above).
My last bit of advice is to take a bunch of shots. Not all will be great but the more you shoot the more likely it is that you will get a keeper.

I'm in one
You can see me in the 2nd pic (the one with Sori and Rameriez playing catch before the game). I am the guy in the 3rd row all the way at the left edge of the pic. You can see I was already taking pics too.

Wow, these are all very well done.
I particularly love that shot of Lou and Milton Bradley.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Lou was literally patting him on the back.
It was a cool moment to glimpse. I wonder what he actually said to him.
