Steve Stone's obsession with Milton Bradley
From Wrigleyville23:
Here's the latest from the angry old man on the South Side regarding his botched "reporting" on the alleged Milton Bradley trade to Detroit:
BaseballStoneTo all the people who believe who believe that david kaplan and i made up the bradley story---get a life. Trade deadline rumors are not new.
They go on to list at least 20 tweets in the past month that Stone has made about Bradley. It does seem to be a little obsessive.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

He's not anymore obsessive about Milton than I am.
As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

I can see this degenerating into the same discussion we had about this over the weekend.
Your call.

Was that in a Fan Post?
Or was it in a game thread?

And i sure hope neither kap or SS is deep goat.

Just outta curiousity
and because I am in no way a Twitter expert, but that is for sure Steve Stone, right? It’s not like someone just created an account in his name to start stuff? I only ask b/c it really kind of blows my mind, some of the stuff he says. It’s really strange…

Famous twitters
are required to verify who they are or their account gets suspended.
OK
I mean, I was just taking a shot, cuz at least then I would be able to make sense of it in my head. But man, just reading through that list really makes ya wonder what that guy’s deal is. It’s a head-scratcher.

It's not a "Verified Account"...
…which I guess means Stone isn’t a “real” celebrity. But I’d have to think that, if it wasn’t really him, the account would’ve been suspended or deleted by now – especially after the Bradley brouhaha.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
Yeah, that's
kinda what I figured too. It borders on comical to read through those tweets.

Would Steve Stone
really say “get a life” on his Twitter?
Yeah, it's just
a few little things like that that are said in there that I’m like, does a “professional” really go ahead and say stuff like this? “Big run producer my butt.” I mean, come on.

It is disappointing
to see someone that I used to respect become so petty and immature. He had potential go down as one of the best baseball commentators if he just stayed on the highroad. But instead he has decided to swing low, provoke and compromise his credibility. I am saddened and disappointed when I read his tweets, not the Steve Stone I remembered and respected.

he's where he belongs
on the southside where it is ok to be a baby about everything and have nothing but contempt for the rest of the league

A little bit on this
As I have mentioned I cover a TV show for a site. The headwriter and creator is on twitter and tweets all the time. A lot of fans had a hard time believing it was him until he publicly acknowledged it in an interview. I think it is a verified account. Because of the nature of the show spoilers have flown all summer and he has had to talk about them more than anything. (its a will they or wont they thing and something got leaked)
I think because of the brouhaha stone would have denied this was his account. They made sure it was Hart Hanson in this case when something happened and then he came out and said it was him for sure. I’m sure if there was a lot of questions Stone was contacted.
I had to delete my twitter account. But you can still find me at fanfiction.net under puckish prosecutor.

He's protected his tweets now
So unless you were already following him, you can’t see statuses unless he approves you.
by Basketball John on Jul 27, 2009 3:52 PM CDT reply actions
They were always protected I think
At least as long as I knew about his twitter.
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.
I don't understand why he would protect his tweets
The whole point of Twitter is to have people read what you have to say. Especially if it’s someone in the media.
Agree....what's point of tweeting then as a member of the media?
….he has really turned into a douche bag
Quite revealing.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
Yeah, I believe his account was protected from the get-go.

Steve Stone has a huge grudge against the Cubs.
Oh well! Let him hate as much as he wants. He’s pretty irrelevant.

Remove the word

My best friend is
a HUGE White Sox fan and he gets so angry because he follows Steve Stone on Twitter and apparently Stone tweets more about the Cubs than the White Sox … personally I think that is awesome
"If loving Peyton Manning is wrong, I don't wanna be right"
sucks for them
i like stone and think all the bashing on him is ridiculous. god forbid anyone speak their opinion or criticize the cubs organization.
Well, there's speaking your mind
and there’s talking out of your ass.
Stoney seems to be veering hard toward the latter.

agreed
never a good idea to blame the media for your own or your team’s poor performance. stone may be a cock, but his commentary that season wasn’t the reason for their collapse.
by John T. Unger on Jul 27, 2009 6:57 PM CDT up reply actions
Here I agree with you
I, too, have grown to really dislike Stone over the last few years but I was also squarely on his side in ’04; that was a petty, underperforming team that seemed to take any criticism way too personally. Stone, of course, had nothing to do with the collapse. All he did was react to it like a good analyst should.
In the years since, however, he’s let his emotions get the best of him and has turned himself into something of a joke and really tarnished his legacy,
