thank you for the reminder of that great thread. I love me some Jamie Kotsay

Not a bad pickup by the Sox

Not sure if Kotsay has anything left in the tank, but he is versatile and can help them across the outfielder and at 1st base. And yes, his wife is a stunner.

Cubs will win 79 to 83 games. Season has been over for weeks. St. Louis will eventually run away with this division. And you can print it. BLou (7/21/09)

I didn't see the point of the trade.

Kotsay is a lot like Anderson, only older.

Anderson can't hit

Nor can Wise. Kotsay is a minimal risk roll of the dice.

Can Kotsay play centerfield, though?

I kinda missed what went wrong between the Sox and Brian Anderson. I know he couldn’t hit, but he seemed like a good defensive centerfielder – y’know, a 4th/5th outfielder type. I’ve even heard talk that the Sox might look at trading for Felix Pie to fill that role now.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Kotsay can't really hit either.

He has a .615 OPS this year. That’s only about 100 points higher than Aaron Miles.
