Berg sent back to AAA
The Cubs officially activated Ryan Dempster from the disabled list Tuesday and optioned right-handed pitcher Justin Berg to Triple-A Iowa. Berg, called up Saturday, did not get in a game with the big league team but came close Monday night. He was warming up in the bullpen. Dempster had been sidelined because of a broken right big toe, injured in early July.

and thus...
Mr. Berg joins the ranks of Mark Leonette, players on the Cubs active roster but never gets into a game. Lets hope he gets recalled in Sept so he does have some stats to go along with his Major League service.
See what old Cubs Scorecards looked like at http://cubsbythenumbers.com/scorecards.html

I'd have gone for Stevens.
With another meat grinder game tonight the Cubs will need some arms. Now it looks like we’ll see a mid-week move to shuttle a reliever back and forth from Des Moines.
the upside of sending down berg is,
his option for the year had already been burned. i imagine we see BJ Ryan by Monday.
but berg’s arm was fresher than stevens
