No worries
Main point to consolodate something like this, though, is that it’s easier to keep all the discussion in one place.

why would they make this trade?
they’d better not give up much. grabow walks too many guys and hasn’t been terribly effective against lefties this year. why? why do this?
we won't be giving up too much
but he will definitely be an improvement.
he has a lower opponent ops versus lefties than he does righties
for his career
its nearly dead even

Would you like this deal better

MLB TR says Jay Jackson is involved.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "Wait, what the hell are you talking about?"
Why not Sherrill?
I know the Dodgers eventually got him but why didn’t the Cubs pursue him? His numbers are better than Grabow’s.
Just win the next game...!
It's Hart and Ascanio, and one other player from Orlando.

Hendry to Hart

What would have happened if lost?
Tough break kid, but we just traded you to the Nationals from a wet towel and a used rake.

Good deal
I like it.

Grabow is a FA after this year...

Hart, Ascanio, and 3B prospect Josh Harrison
to the Bucs for Grabow and Tom Gorzelanny.
Gorzelanny to be optioned to Iowa. Grabow will be a free agent at year’s end.

Lame...
Grabow isn’t that good, Gorzelanny is a left-handed Mark Prior.
And they give up Hart and Ascanio? Wow, too much. Maybe in a Sherrill deal but not this. Yikes.
Just win the next game...!
I disagree.
Ascanio had been displaced by Guzman, Hart, I believe, will be a minor leaguer for a majority of his career. Grabow and Gorz are both lefties, and can either start or bolster the pen. Good deal.

We can agree to disagree
The book isn’t closed on Hart being an AA/AAA guy the rest of his career. Ascanio is a victim of numbers, that’s fine for now. The return just isn’t enough; one guy with too high a WHIP, the other injured far too often.
Just win the next game...!

What
And they give up Hart and Ascanio? Wow, too much. Maybe in a Sherrill deal but not this. Yikes.
Neither one of them is very good. Certainly not good enough to get Sherrill. Ascanio has the best upside of the two, but he’s awfully wild.
Gorz was supposed to be the Pirates ace after 2007 then he kept getting hurt.
That’s what he means by that.
Randy Wells. A product of the Roy Halladay School of Pitching, located in Toronto, Canada. Possible relocation.
Fair enough.
Gorzelany’s stuff isn’t as good, but his injuries aren’t nearly as bad. I feel like the Cubs have shown with Bradley and Harden that they know how to keep injury prone players on the field, so I like their odds with Gorz.
Someone needed to keep the trainers busy .. like Gorzelanny

Any Cub we sign I will root for .. that’s always been my thing as a Cubs fan.
But he has all the durability of a Rich Harden — I really hope he has the same potential.

And the 60-day DL didn't matter
That was just a procedural move to get him off the 40-man for a few weeks.
It's a simple question, Doctor: would you eat the moon if it were made of ribs??
