Our Ted's Prayer

Our Ted, who art at Wrigley

Hallowed be thy game.

Thy strikeouts come, thy will be done

On the mound, as it is in K-zone.

Give us this day, our daily win

And forgive us our BCB flaming

As we forgive those who flame against us.

And lead us not into the cellar

But rather into the playoffs.

For thine is the destiny of the division title,

the NL Pennant, and World Series glory,

Now and forever...

Amen (and Awomen)

Did someone say

A little over the top?

A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five.

no

that’s “a little off the top”. Ted was getting a haircut from God, and he wanted to make sure God got it right.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. [ibid] This is the kind of fan I am.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Bummer this post hit the magic 3 on Rec's

Now we’ve lost Eric’s most excellent Post. Ah well, life goes on, I guess.

Not your fault

I just enjoyed seeing a post with 65 Rec’s up there. It was good stuff…

Is that because it's like when you hit your head with a hammer?

Why?

All right, I had to give it a shot.

Bear in mind my declension is probably all wrong, and I had to come up with a whole bunch of neologisms on my own, but this should at least be partially right.

Theodorus noster, qui es apud Wrigley,

Sanctificetur ludum tuum.

Adveniat impingi tui, fiat voluntas tua

Sicut in tumulum, et in plagas kappa.

Victoria quotidiana nostra da nobis hodie,

Et dimitte insultis nostris de BCB,

Sicut dimittimus nos insultaribus nostris,

Et ne nos induca in positionis extremis,

Sed quinimmo ad conflictii magnii.

Quia tuum es fatum titulis discidiis, vexillinis limbis nationalis, gloriam seriis mundialisque,

Nunc et in saecula saeculorum,

Amen.

Wow. And that comes from a former altar boy who actually served mass when it was said in Latin.

Wow, you were really an altar boy before Vatican II? Then you should recognize that most of that is the actual Latin Lord’s Prayer, but with my clumsy attempts to translate the baseball terminology inserted where necessary. ;-)
