Too cute by half on the Soriano swaps

I don’t like swapping guys around in the middle of an inning like that. Baker is a competent fielder, he can handle it. Soriano loses what little focus he has.

by Nibbles on Aug 1, 2009 10:27 PM CDT reply actions

Hmm...Lou swapped him with a left hander at bat.

Has Baker played 2nd base before? Seemed like a move to get a better defender at 2nd where a screamer could be hit.

Per Trib Lou was moving Baker to handle a righty or lefty.

I guess Baker must have played 2nd in the minors, cause otherwise you have to think Fonzie would be better there.

They went to the...

…news to quick. Len n’ Bob think it might be heat related.

I know how you feel.

We don’t need to lose him again for any stretch of time!

Watching it on WGN, the trainers were holding his jersey just to get him pay attention to them, so I am inclined to think that it is heat related. He was doubled over at second, and wasn’t complaining about his elbow…

Caller on WGN Radio...

“Ya know, it’s not just losing 2 games in a row…”

Ummm, we won idiot.

Someday we'll go all the way...

Goes on to say package Z and Bradley in a trade...

Don’t they screen these calls?

No, Kraplan picks 'em out.

He is a biased hack that doesn’t like Z or Bradley.

Well, so technically

it was NOT just losing two in a row.

I heard this call, too

and I just about bashed my fist through the windshield. Reminds me of some of the more ledgy posters around here. Do they just let any idiot on the air?

RAMI!!

I need news!

My guess - we'll know more tomorrow

If it is broken, he’ll need x-rays to determine the extent of the injury.
If it’s not, they are treating it now with ice and we will know more tomorrow.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "Wait, what the hell are you talking about?"

by Ross on Aug 1, 2009 10:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Unless he left the game due to something else.

Which is what it appeared to be.

Its funny, you spend most of your life gripping a baseball. And in the end, its almost always the other way around.

Yeah, I'm...

…inclined to believe that it was something else based on what I saw on the field.

by LeSaboteur on Aug 1, 2009 10:58 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm not trying to just sugar coat it.

But I really think it was something heat related. I would think they would have at least looked at his arm. He was pointing at his head.

I hope so...

But like it was mentioned before, often times when you break a bone, you can get dizzy and nauseous from it. Hopefully this is not the case.

Someday we'll go all the way...

Yah

He looked pretty goofy when the trainer was talking to him. I expected to see the “finger count” next, but they just hoisted him out of there.

My total speculation is just one option...

As we talked about earlier in the post, nausea is sometimes a side effect when someone suffers a broken bone, even a fracture (I personally have had it happened twice.). That is why I am speculating on a broken bone.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "Wait, what the hell are you talking about?"

by Ross on Aug 1, 2009 11:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Or the possibility that

nausea set in and its not broken. I’ve been hit by 85 on the elbow, no break, and wanted to hurl. Just hope for the best I guess.

by TCobb1911 on Aug 1, 2009 11:03 PM CDT up reply actions

It's definitely possible.

I’m still guessing something heat related based on what I saw on the field. We’ll just have to wait and see.

by LeSaboteur on Aug 1, 2009 11:03 PM CDT up reply actions

ARam didnt look himself after the 2nd

three straight Ks is very strange for him, wouldn’t be surprised if the heat was getting to him and eventually knocked him out in the 10th

tell "that guy" thanks

He can throw a fastball at 87MPH and make you look like a fool. He can spray lines drives to right field. He can put up with crappy offense and take the loss. He is Randy Wells. He is the most interesting pitcher in the world. Stay healthy, my friends.

Lets hope

My inner Hulk was about to come out after that whole affair. Didnt Aram get hit in the same general area in the past week. Cant recall the game. PS. I do think he felt ill as a result of the pain. Knees and elbows…

Pain can do that, specially when you've already been injured recently.

Everytime you add more to it your body as a whole gets closer to overloaded. The way he was sweating when he came out I was sure he was at least dizzy as Bob and Len thought. Trib reported he will play tomorrow…we will see about that, when your body stiffens after sleeping (and any pain killers wear off they may have given him) things may sure change. I’m just ecstatic so far it looks like he wasn’t hurt that much. I think they should keep him out of the starting line up and keep him as a PH just in case…That humidity will just exacerbate pain or stiffness he has.

By the way, Trib said Z did have stiffness from sleeping in a bad position.

Sure reminded me of when he had stiffness before. I just hope it works itself out before his next start…he said he would so we will see.
