NUNEZ needs to be dealt with!

This guy has something coming to him!  They are talking about in now after they just came back from the middle of the 10th --- this guy is a punk and needs his sh it checked!  Last nights reaction and stare down and now to actually sit and stare @ Koyie Hill after he tagged him out...like he was going to do something...

Hilarious --- Brenly showed it again and said Koyie would "break him into pieces"....great stuff by Brenly...he never holds back and when he sees this type of sh it happen!

He's a setup/closer man so there's not a chance he gets a bat in his hands...but something needs to be done....

Regardless of him hitting Ramirez was an accident or not...plus it was right after DLee's dinger (strange)....but after last night and then tonight....

Tomorrow we need to throw @ someone!

Suspensions

or injuries are all that will come from doing that. No thanks.

Its funny, you spend most of your life gripping a baseball. And in the end, its almost always the other way around.

You deal with it on the field. You don’t worry about suspensions or injuries.

Hunting season on the Cubs should be OVER. We’ll see if the Cubs are man enough to deal with it.

I suppose you missed the part earlier in the game where Z drilled their best player, Hanley Ramirez???

Seems to me the Cubs started it, and the Marlins dealt with it. On the field. So it should be over.

Not sure why you think the Cubs still owe the Marlins something.

There's no good way to do this at the moment.

I disagree with ballhawk respectively that the Cubs started it…Z hit Ramirez by mistake and the Fish responded in kind hitting our Ramirez in retailation. Fair enough…ARam was already hurt so this doesn’t exactly seem right but it’s still pretty much a wash. I don’t think anything warranted Nunez being an assclown, he just took the opportunity to be an idiot AGAIN after Hill ran right past him trying to beat out a hit. All this aside, Hill did the smart thing and let it go. Brawls or throwing at them will only cause this to escalate and have players from the Cubs suspended which will hurt us a lot going forward. Any retailiation should be from something else as Hill wasn’t hurt by a staredown…Nunez is an idiot but pansy enough not to start something. Gotta be smart and let it go until something physical happens, its about winning and I was proud the Cubs did the smart thing here.

by Sandberg's evil twin on Aug 2, 2009 5:44 AM CDT up reply actions

Well of course Z hit Ramirez by mistake, as was Nunez hitting our Ramirez.

Yes, he’d just given up a homer to DLee, but it’s extra innings, they’re only down by one run – it’s not like the Cubs have a lights out closer coming in to finish things up. Marlins are very much still in this game. And what was the count on ARam – 2-2 or something like that? Nunez may very well be an assclown, but I doubt he hit ARam on purpose.

Now the whole Nunez-Hill thing.., yeah that stuff was pretty obvious and just as obvious, it was a carryover from the previous night. But that was a completely separate event from the HBPs.

We had the chance to do something about it...

Aramis chose to be the bigger man and take his base. He wasn’t in any condition to charge the mound anyway. Hill wasn’t going to do anything either because he put the team above himself.

I agree with you ....for the moment.

Retaliating against a staredown while tempting from a punk wouldn’t solve anything and I was glad to see Hill be the smarter one, not letting idiot Nunez draw him into a fight that would have got him suspended…which definitely would be devastating right now. I am sure Nunez would be on the losing side of that like Brenly said, but until they do something physical gotta let it go and concentrate on winning.

If Ramirez is not hurt, then let it go...

However, if he is hurt, their two players get flipped tomorrow. Not necessarily hit, but certainly dusted.

koyie clearly leaned into him trying to strike him as ran past first base, which is why Nunez stared him down

nunez was being a jerk last night after he struck out k hill

He can throw a fastball at 87MPH and make you look like a fool. He can spray lines drives to right field. He can put up with crappy offense and take the loss. He is Randy Wells. He is the most interesting pitcher in the world. Stay healthy, my friends.

by jesus christos on Aug 1, 2009 11:47 PM CDT up reply actions

I watched that play, and while I may not have had as good a view as Dartmouth, I'll take his word for him "leaning in".

That said after staring down Hill last night, Nunez was looking for a reason to be a punk. He wants to intimidate the Cubs, as a smaller guy would knowing there was little chance Hill can respond. Hill did the smart thing and a staredown doesn’t warrant throwing at the Fish on Sunday, but it still was a cowardly move to me. You try to show you are tough and you get a reaction…acting surprised and angry is just a passive/aggressive bait move like everything Nunez has done so far.

Cripes, here we go again

Every time a Cub batter gets hit, there’s an outcry on this site to “DEAL WITH IT!” We MUST show the other team that we have bigger balls!!!!!!!!!

The HBP was an accident. Retaliating would be stupid.

Hill brushed Nunez because of his antics on Friday, and I have no problem with that. Neither did Uggla, who pushed Nunez off the field.

That should be the end of it.

It wasn't an accident to hit Ramirez, it was the Fish choosing a good time to respond.

That said we hit them and they hit us, it’s over. Nunez stares Hill down, he runs close to him to show him he’s not afraid of a punk. If ARam turns out to be more injured than reported perhaps you think about it but you know suspensions and injuries can occur without a good reason like that. Gotta let it go barring further info. It will only lead to more players getting hurt and suspended when we already have multiple injuries with only 2 off days this month.

by Sandberg's evil twin on Aug 2, 2009 6:02 AM CDT up reply actions

Bravo Sierra

None of the Cubs reacted like they thought it was on purpose. There’s no mention of it in the media.

Why there always has to be intent in the eyes of fans is beyond me. Ballhawk summed it up pretty well up above.

THE GOAL IS TO WIN THE GAME, NOT SHOW THE OTHER TEAM HOW TOUGH YOU ARE.
- It was only a 9-8 game when Ramirez got hit
- It came on a 2-2 pitch
- It came after a foul ball off Ramirez’ bat was dropped

Soriano hit a game winning homerun helping his team, a team fighting for a playoff spot.

Ok CLTCubby, if you're so tough

why don’t you hop on a plane and head on down to Miami. Get yourself a field box ticket (shouldn’t be too hard) and wait for Nunez to come into the game. Then jump the railing and deal with him yourself.

You’d certainly prove your manhood to all those around you, not to mention a national TV audience (if you’re fast enough to get to him before the cameras turn away). Plus this way, we wouldn’t have to worry about suspensions or fines for any of our Cubs. Of course, the authorities would most likely throw the book at you – probably have to come up with some bail money and maybe a lawyer or two. But hey, it’d be worth it, right? Because NUNEZ would have been dealt with!
