A series split

I think most of us were realistically hoping for this, considering how the Rockies have been playing, especially at Coors. The two losses have been ugly, but a win tonight would erase those memories heading home against Philly.

Go Gorzo!

Jim Hendry has been permitted to run this thing into the ground, yet few will acknowledge it because the Cubs came in first place in 2007 and 2008.

1. Cubs have the single worst payroll situation on major league baseball that is only going to get worse in the next few years.

2. The most expensive outfield in baseball is also among the lowliest in terms of collective production.

3. The farm system remains a complete and total fucking disaster.

4. Jim Hendry’s trading savvy is limited to picking up salary dumps.

5. I could go on and on and on and on (and I usually do).

I want Tom Ricketts to come in here and fire Kenny, Hendry, Wilken, Flautas, Piniella, the head groundskeeper, the asshole whose idea it was to affix the Captain Morgan Pancake House to the outside of the ballpark, the organist and all ticket takers who speak English as a 14th language.

Wouldn't be so bad

If your “objective” analysis didn’t ALWAYS involve you stating the worst possible senario as fact.

by Mike Martin on Aug 10, 2009 8:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Well....

The majority of BCB posters live in a state of denial. They actually defend to their death the wondrous virtues and value of things like Alfonso Soriano. And how the Cubs are so perfectly constructed for a World Series run in 2009. Their biggest argument for why the 2009 Cubs are in perfectly fine shape?!?! “The Cardinals were able to win in 2006 !!!!!”

I can't disagree with you, to be honest.

But what I think they’re saying is that you should be as positive when things are going well as you are negative when they’re not.

I know some think it's impossible...

…but just once I’d like to see no responses after a BLou comment. I know everyone is frustrated, but ignore the troll. He feeds off this shit.

I'm trying.

It’s not always easy, when I find everything from my home state to my political views insulted by him.

I have been to five Cubs games in my lifetime.

The Cubs' record in those games: 5 wins, 0 losses.

Blou has attained cult status on BCB

People talk about him even when he isn’t around. At the rate he’s going, he’ll have his own radio show in a few months.

He enjoys watching everyone snap at him

That’s why he does it.

And, let's be honest, people enjoy snapping at him too.

If the didn’t, they wouldn’t obsess over him so much when he wasn’t here. I guess it gives them a common enemy

He's the guy everyone loves to hate

He literally invokes a Pavlovian response in a lot of people

It’s actually pretty entertaining to watch, especially when the game isn’t.

Obsess is right....

He’s a cartoon character. Ignore him.
