A series split
I think most of us were realistically hoping for this, considering how the Rockies have been playing, especially at Coors. The two losses have been ugly, but a win tonight would erase those memories heading home against Philly.
Go Gorzo!

Superstar
Man those Soriano hot streaks are legendary. Aw, maybe it’s his knee. Or that he can’t hit in the sixth spot. Or the weather is too cool.
This guy is a butcher. An absolute butcher. The sooner he is out of the lineup, for good, the better the Cub organization will be.
Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?
there can be a legitimate discussion
over whether the cubs would be a better team with Jake Fox in left.
No, there can't be
Next question, please.

for there to be a next

but do you want to count on Fox maintaining his performance at the plate

by shake n bake on Aug 10, 2009 8:01 PM CDT up reply actions
he wouldnt need to
he could drop forty points and his power could decrease and he would still be similar to soriano
he could easy drop further than that
Hoffpauir did from after his first 100 ABs

he could no doubt
but he also could keep hitting. Just a thought. I think it is at least debatable.
I'm all for giving Fox more time

by shake n bake on Aug 10, 2009 8:10 PM CDT up reply actions
It is debatable
but its probably not worth the time since it won’t happen. Guys like Soriano don’t get benched for more than a few days

Because the current state of this franchise makes me want to VOMIT !!!!
Jim Hendry has been permitted to run this thing into the ground, yet few will acknowledge it because the Cubs came in first place in 2007 and 2008.
1. Cubs have the single worst payroll situation on major league baseball that is only going to get worse in the next few years.
2. The most expensive outfield in baseball is also among the lowliest in terms of collective production.
3. The farm system remains a complete and total fucking disaster.
4. Jim Hendry’s trading savvy is limited to picking up salary dumps.
5. I could go on and on and on and on (and I usually do).
I want Tom Ricketts to come in here and fire Kenny, Hendry, Wilken, Flautas, Piniella, the head groundskeeper, the asshole whose idea it was to affix the Captain Morgan Pancake House to the outside of the ballpark, the organist and all ticket takers who speak English as a 14th language.

If your “objective” analysis didn’t ALWAYS involve you stating the worst possible senario as fact.
Well....
The majority of BCB posters live in a state of denial. They actually defend to their death the wondrous virtues and value of things like Alfonso Soriano. And how the Cubs are so perfectly constructed for a World Series run in 2009. Their biggest argument for why the 2009 Cubs are in perfectly fine shape?!?! “The Cardinals were able to win in 2006 !!!!!”
