folks get along between those two states or is there a bit of a rivalry there?

A little bit,

But New Hampshire has many more people (the suburbs of Boston spill into NH), so the rivalry does get one-sided.

Outside the cities in New Hampshire, though, the two states look very similar.

I'm on a waiting list (with a deposit paid) in Belgium

Here in Germany they are only sold with a bundle (Deutsche Telekom for 24 months), which I do not need. In Belgium they are not allowed to lock out any providers. This makes iPhones from Belgium very popular here. The same applies to Italy and the Czech Republic among others.

If I were to import it myself from outside of the European Union, there would warranty problems and I would have to pay rather large customs duties.

Technically, I don't suppose there is one

at some point, a much-delayed day game could be considered a night-game

and that normally could cause some problems with the whole night-game limit thing here at Wrigley but…

…I think the Cubs have a bit of a buffer zone this year with at least a couple of rained-out night games being rescheduled as day games. The rained out Houston game already played (Jul 30) was originally a night game, and the upcoming rescheduled Sox game on Sept 3 was originally a night game as well. Not sure about the St. Louis game.

Was wondering last night while watching that super exciting Bears game in between posting my Bones stories, are we going to have some game threads for Bears games this year?

And is there any doubt they’ll introduce the offense next week for the home opener? and should I wear earplugs for the moment the exciting new addition that was made on April 2nd is announced? (of course I refer to Orlando Pace)

Watching him living in St. Louis as a Die Hard Bears fan, Pace has been very injury prone in St. Louis…Last year was not the first or second season ending injury for him. The Bears sure need him healthy and playing like the beast he can be.

Thanks for asking, Clutch...

Ok to run over a little old lady? If the ball was hit by a Cub, yes. If hit by the other team, probably still ok but discretion should be used.

Toddler? Of course, They’re young, flexible, still have some baby fat for padding, got their whole life ahead of them. Heck, they probably won’t even remember they got hit. One rule though – if there’s blood, you gotta give them the ball. That just goes without saying.

Again, as I stated earlier,

having been there – it was possible in my opinion for them to have finished four or five innings of baseball between 1:45-3:00

Why they had people waste their whole day there is just plain greed.

No greed would have been starting the game

with such a short window. You think the Cubs WANT a rain out with a sold out house ? That is far too short a window to assume you can
get in 5 innings. Game will be rescheduled as a day game in Mid Sept which will be much harder to sellout ( all season ticket holders
will have to take it though). They would have ruined a Harden start if they had started the game and not made it through 5 innings and needlessly used players on a bad field.

BUt I have been at games

played in steady rain. Not downpours with velocity, but steady rains. The field drains much better than it used to. Again in my opinion they could have gotten an official game in.

by The E-Man on Aug 16, 2009 4:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Too much of a risk

but like I said GREED would have been if they started with the high risk of not getting it in not calling it and rescheduling it for
far less desirable time.

Damn. Looked like it would only be another hour before they could start

Why wait this long , then call it, when the radar shows its leaving Chicago?

that’s my pic!! haha

so did they call it?

I'm a lefty, maybe Lou should give me a shot for a position in the bullpen!!

Yes.

I have been to five Cubs games in my lifetime. The Cubs' record in those games: 5 wins, 0 losses.

They did

Official (if somewhat disappointing) sweep.

Rainout?

Do you think there will be a makeup game or a double-header at the end of September?

They will either make it up the 10th or play a double dip at the end of September.

What about August 24?

That’s also a mutual off day for the Cubs and Pirates.

no need with the days in the Sept series available.

Split DH is really the best answer.

DH for sure

It is VERY easy to do and only requires a split DH with one of the Sept games which are all night games. As I mentioned before with the expanded roster this will not be nearly as much a strain as it would be at another time, you will have several extra pitchers and position players available.

by Chanman25 on Aug 16, 2009 4:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Scales! And Hoffpauir!

and Blanco will probably be sent down, if he doesn’t go back on the DL.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

by drewishdrewid on Aug 16, 2009 4:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Also Stevens, Mathes who knows.

Pitchers will be a bigger deal then position players for a DH.

August 24
September 10

Or a day-night double-header at the end of September.

Put Harden Wednesday

Push back Wells one start and possibly skip Gorzellanny since Z is back perhaps Monday?

wouldn't it be better

to skip a Harden start then a Gorzelanny start?

Not against Dodgers

They will eat Gorzelanny alive IMO.

by ak123 on Aug 16, 2009 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm going to take reverse psychology

People are going to complain on here and on Al’s post that they should have tried to get 5 innings in when they could.

Had they done that and say Harden given up 3-4 runs and Cubs only scored 2 people would be complaining they should have delayed the game so they could get 9 innings in.

by ak123 on Aug 16, 2009 4:47 PM CDT reply actions

by ak123 on Aug 16, 2009 4:48 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm shocked, shocked to find that complaining is going on in here!

On bright side

Lou had the B team playing in many positions. I understand him evening the playing field for the Pirates but at least it’s a day off for everyone as opposed to a “we’ll try to win with everyone else” day.

by ak123 on Aug 16, 2009 4:53 PM CDT reply actions

B-team was playing 2B and SS

Everything else looked just peachy to me.
