it is amazing to watch bottom feeder teams
out execute, hustle and smart us. This team is an abomination.

what is proving to be the case
is that the NL Central is very bad. The Cards will finish 10+ games ahead of everyone else. They are superior at every single area except 3B.

and the cubs will only win 79-83 games

I would say...
…there is a better chance of the Cards winning the division by 10, than anyone catching them, but you never know what’s in store down the road.
Last night may have been the nail in the coffin for this year, that is unless the star players decide they don’t want that to be the case and step up.

i just hope bears regular season or college football season starts soon so i don’t need to focus all my heart on the cubs.

Bitching back up by legitimate observation is OK with me
e.g. “Man, Soriano is now 3 for 31 – that’s just awful”.
lately the pitching gets the cubs nowhere too :-(
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
Well if we can use this season as an example that
cheering and being positive gets the cubs nowhere as well

This team deserves it.
One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.
A lot of these posters

I can hear it now...
…Jim Hendry asking Ricketts if he minds eating about 50 million of Soriano’s deal so he can trade him.
"I don't like them fellas that drive in two runs but let in three" Casey Stengel
Maybe they can fire JH...
…and give part of that money to Fonzi, then cut ‘im? The loss isn’t so great that way, and two plagues are gone.
haha
I could see the Nationals POSSIBLY taking a chance on him… they are the only team that has worse management and he was pretty successful there
by IowaCubsWS09 on Aug 18, 2009 10:28 PM CDT up reply actions
i would trade soriano for Strasburg and pay the difference in contracts
Soriano is declining year after year and his streakiness doesn’t help.
by aznsensation on Aug 18, 2009 10:30 PM CDT up reply actions
lol...i don't know...but if they would do it...i would do it
Soriano is a “proven” veteran. Maybe they feel he can steal 40 bases again if he’s with the Nats.

That'll be one good thing if salaries take off again
Say if Pujols gets $30M his next deal, or Lincecum gets in excess of $20M per – then Soriano’s deal looks like a bargain and he’ll become tradeable!
Does anybody else...
….think the Pads have the most generic uniform in all of baseball? It makes me yearn for the old brown n’ yellow.
Oh, yeah.
Those are awful. And they could do so much better if with the camo variant if they want to continue their military support.
pretty hideous? haha

But everything they do doesn’t warrant a snarky comment or a hyper-critical response.

Face it everyone...
Dempster was a one year wonder. His contract is nearly as bad as Gil Meche/Carlos Silva.
Yep! He just can't keep any sort of focus at key times.
"He can't hit, he can't field, he can't run—all he can do is beat you."
He's in the mold of Chan Ho Park...
One big year and cash it in.
OK. This is a rough start...
I am taking the dogs for a walk. I assume we will have the lead when I get back.

I very rarely advocate violence.
But the fan that caught Gonzalez’ HR needs to be punched in the mouth. Not for snagging the ball. Just because he looks and acts like a tool.
i just rolled my eyes so hard it hurt
i almost want to rec this for the stupidest thing i’ve ever read.
You've been on this board
for far too long for that to be the stupidest thing you’ve ever read :-)

would make that call honestly, if only to keep me from nagging them to death.
This is ridiculous
Fukudome was called out on that exact play earlier… we can’t even get a makeup call tonight
Bullshit!
And you call Dome out?
"He can't hit, he can't field, he can't run—all he can do is beat you."
Consider the source
C.B. Bucknor is so bad that there’s an online petition calling for him to get the axe.
haha
that petition seems pretty unprofessional… but I still signed it

look up at the top underneath Al's original post...
it lists all the options…I’ll just copy it if you’re lazy.
Press C to tab through new comments, Shift-C to tab backwards, X to mark a comment as read, and Shift-A to mark all read.
Z will simultaneously mark and tab forward, and R will reply to the comment that has focus.

that one blown save by marmol that eliminated the DR...
I think that really hit him mentally. Foreigners really put their hearts into playing for their country. It’s kind of generalizing, but American’s don’t care that much about playing for one’s country and representing nearly as much as the foreigners do.

This damn season has been Miles...
You could also call it: Heilman, Gregg, Fontenot, Hoffpauir, Scales, Samardzija.
Why not?
He blew it for me striking out against the Dodgers with the bases loaded in the 9th.
Still...
He wasn’t any good, thus explaining why he was a 31 year old rookie, altough he did get his first hit off of Lincecum.
what name did you adopt?
