This is pointed at you AL

If the world didn't suck we would all fall off.

I read about this today.

I think they are trying to defend an industry that is dying. Bloggers are the future and they don’t seem to know what to do about us. I note that the SEC was originally trying to ban ALL tweeting, etc. from the stands and backed off to “commercial uses” after a firestorm of protest.

I wouldn't worry too much about it...

Some of the SECs recent actions have been garnering a great deal of chatter in both the pro photographer and journalist set. The short answer seems to be they’re trying very hard to reign in their copyrights after years of letting people get away with murder. The hacks have been screaming for years about SIDs down there letting even no-name, no-hit bloggers into the press box, and I got to hear a mouthful last week from a photographer that’s had to fight fans on the sidelines with a point and shoot for position at SEC games. It’s just nuts.

I expect to see some large licensing deal announced in the very near future, but either way, most in media are seeing this as a good thing.

A hilarious quote in this article:
"It was absolutely ludicrous," said Peter Fox, the executive director of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association. "You can’t do play-by-play in a blog. You can’t type that fast, for crying out loud."

Um, I think Drew and Clutch16 (among others) from our gamethreads would have a thing or two to say about that. (OK, he was apparently referring to basketball, but stilll…)

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Ha!

Dome singles to RF

DLee HR, 3-0 Cubs

If Mr. Fox can’t manage to type that in real-time, I hope he dictates his emails to his secretary.

Basketball might be tougher, but not by much. The only time I have to take my eyes off a game when doing PxP here is finding and clicking the next Subject box.

We're pretty good on here

Hell, I find out what happens in gamethreads before the gamecast tells me.

For example at 10:05PM tonight someone said Cubs would lose. Gamecast didn’t inform me until about 1245AM.

I was eyeballing the comments before I followed the link and couldn't

figure out what the Securities and Exchange Commission had to do with this.

Just win the next game...!
