You've Got To Ac-Centuate The Positive
Injuries, attitudes, slumps and Kevin Gregg have made this one of the most inconsistent (but consistently disappointing!) Cubs teams in years. But before we stash our Cubs’ gear in the closet and pull out our Bears and Blackhawks jerseys, let’s take an honest look at the situation...

I’ll admit that things look incredibly bleak, but far stranger things have happened than teams pulling off a big comeback this late in the season. I’m trying to keep my optimism reserved, because in all honesty, the odds are that I’m not going to be happy. But I will be watching and rooting as long as we still have a chance.

3 games left vs st louis is a positive, especially behind only 4 in the loss column..
It still give the Cubs a chance. Regardless, they are going to have to play at the level of being capable of sweeping the cardinals in an away series if they have a shot of doing something in October. It’s not over yet. Thanks for the positive attitude.

Sorry if I can't
accept your blind faith as a sound reason. If this is such a quality team, it would have shown itself by now.

Just like
the 2007 Rockies on September 15 (6 1/2 games back),
the 2006 Phillies on September 12 (7 games back),
or the 2004 Astros on August 14 (7 games out of the WC lead)?
Should I mention the the 2004 Red Sox in the ALCS?
I could go on the past 5 years aren’t enough for you.
Like I said above, its not likely, but let’s not act like there’s no chance at all. The team is flawed and hasn’t played well this year, but it’s baseball and anything is possible. I would understand if management decided to look towards next year if we don’t turn things around soon, but we can’t truly say the season is over until then.

Yes it's possible
No, i doubt it will happen. I still watch every game and hope things improve. I just don’t die as much when history repeats itself.

I'll agree that the Cubs have enough talent it would be ...wrong to say there isn't a chance.
The only problem to me is, I don’t think the Cards or the Cubs have enough talent that will play consistently to go beyond the first round. Even if we can somehow get consistent (and get a lot of help from the Cards losing), Either one to me doesn’t have a chance against the Phillies or even Dodgers. Of course as the ‘06 Cards have shown anything is possible. Stay tuned…I’d sure like to see what could happen if we managed to squeak by and nab the division crown.
