Cross fingers and hope Bud Selig gets an owners vote done asap so Hendry can be shit-canned before the offseason starts

no
TFA says that signing the documents is imminent, not “the sale,” which most people would interpret as the closing of the sale.
this thing still needs bankruptcy court and creditor approval. even if the Trib wasn’t in bankruptcy, and even if this didn’t require a vote of the MLB owners, there would probably be at least 60 days after execution for various pre-closing obligations to take place, including finalizing Ricketts’ financing.
this thing is NOT closing for several months, regardless of whatever tomorrow’s article says.
Cubs will win 79 to 83 games. Season has been over for weeks. St. Louis will eventually run away with this division. And you can print it. BLou (7/21/09)

Correct.
The rest of the article spells out the details. All this means, as the article states, is that:
The completion of a definitive agreement would mean Tribune Co. would not be able to solicit any other bids for the team, sources said.

Sweet
This means that the trades for Roberts and Peavy should follow in short order, right?

Uh-huh.
This has been an on-going FanPost/Shot/Front Page story for about a year and a half.

It isn't the final hurdle, but a big one
Getting over this one would lead to some stablity. I think the bankruptcy court and owner approval would go through in good order. It would lead to an off-season where ownership could come in and start a course.

Wake me up when it's over
I take that back. I might be asleep for a few more years.

You know what else is imminent?
Me running a five-minute mile.
Oh, wait…I need to do a few more stretching exercizes and build up my calf muscles a little more. Hang on a sec.
Y’know what, I just got this really funny e-mail forward. Maybe I’ll go running tomorrow. It might rain, though.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

You know what else can throw a monkey wrench into all of this?
Our Gov’t. Not sure if many of you heard the gov’t is going after people with off-shore accts, calling them “tax cheats” which is rather ironic.
So since TribCo is going to be still owning 5% I take it the LLC being constructed is so TribCo can shelter all the capital gains tax since they’re selling something they bought for $20.5M in 1981 at a price now of nearly $900M in 2009. That’s just a few thousand percent gain but who’s counting? I fear the Gov’t will be counting.
Even if that doesn’t happen the sale probably won’t go through to MLB until the Winter meetings.
Just win the next game...!
