Lou Loses a Little More Credibility
"We took a chance, and it didn't work," Piniella said. "The amazing this is they took the same chance walking a hitter. They get a strikeout. We get a grand slam."
Really? The same chance. They walked a guy to get to Aaron Miles, who predictibly hit a ground ball to 2b to end the inning. The Cubs walked a guy in a horrible slump to get to a two-time all-star. Sorry, that is not the same.

I was at the game tonight,
had some good natured banter with Dodger fans in front of me and when Lou put in Miles I let out a loud groan and told the dodger fans that they would get out of the inning.
Geez, if Lou was giving up on the inning by putting in the sure out, why not just let Gorzo hit instead? Gorzo did almost get a hit in his first time up.

russell martin’s .331 SLG% agrees
I can't believe he hit that home run. I just can't.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
I can, I called it.
I was as obvious as Miles ground out. He knew he’d get a strike on the first pitch, everyone knew it.
Ross loses a little credibility. (Sorry, it was on a tee)
They walked a guy to get to Soriano
Piniella was referring to the third inning, when Joe Torre ordered an intentional walk to Fukudome to load the bases for Alfonso Soriano, who struck out. Jeff Baker also struck out, ending the threat.

Baker notwithstanding
Miles and ground ball is pretty much equivalent to Soriano and strikeout right now.

Still, it wasn't the same inning

And all of his weird excuses...
for failure add to this. It’s too hot in Florida, it’s too hot in Cincy, too much time in Denver, the ballpark is too big in San Diego. Now he’s playing the “woe is us” card? When you let Miles play… bad things happen.
Someday we'll go all the way...
