End of an Era In Scottsdale
Jack Brickhouse and Vince Lloyd used to always mention this establishment....back in the day...

I saw that today
never made it up there, sad to see it go, nonetheless.

Been there
sorry to see it close. It was a flashback to the past.
This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

Yes, you took me there once , didn't you
That was quite the place. A good place to see Cub Player’s families as I remember.

Well not to lose the drama
My wife and I have been going to the PP for the last 8 years since we started the trek to Mesa for ST. And we have gotten to know the lady who owns the place [Gwen] as well as the head bartender and resident “lounge singer” [Steve] – Great folks and while most of them were Giants fans, they always welcomed us. Last March the bartender hinted that they may be selling — but that it would not close down.
But don’t take my word for it – Link

Whoops
Meant to also say that the word I am hearing is that while it has closed its doors they are working with potential buyers to reopen — hopefully by the spring.

I think the economy may have
put the kabosh on that.
I knew the original owner quite well…Gwen’s husband, Charley Briley. Since Charley passed away, the PP has steadily gone downhill. To be honest, it has become something of a dump.

Agreed
You might be right, when I last spoke to them during ST, they seemed optomistic about getting a buyer to “keep the place the same”. But it will probably end up some fusion thing, like that place next door to them [not that there is anything wrong with that]. The thing is they could pour a stiff drink at a good price, ahhh the days of the supper club are almost over.

Where the fusion place is
for many years was the location of a REALLY good steakhouse, called the Saguaro. The Pink Pony was about atmosphere (and getting drunk to the point where you didn’t care about the food), the Saguaro was about the steaks.
The OP is a little late with this. The era of the PP in Scottsdale ended quite some time ago.
See Don & Charlie’s, Ruth Chris’, or Durant’s if you want a stroll down memory lane.
