Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

How’s Wood?

I’m not asking for Hendry to bring him back. I want to declare that immediately. I do wonder though if anybody has been following him with the Indians? How has Kerry been playing? I know he struggled early in the season, but has he been doing better? Is his stuff still good or has he lost something? Could being a new league be a cause of his problems? Though he’s not a Cub anymore, I am still a fan of his and still extremely thankful for bringing to the Cubs what he brought all of those years. I still wish him the best…except when he plays against the Cubs. :O)

I too wish Wood the best

And I still root for him. He’s been a bit better, but the whole team has been a mess in Cleveland this year. It’s unfortunate – he went there thinking they would compete, and certainly, he’s been a key factor in their struggles, but now they are in rebuild mode.

I think

he has a shot of being moved, as they are clearly rebuilding, have added a ton of arms. A lot if going to depend on how he pitches the rest of the year. The problem this year was that, due to his struggles, few teams were going to go after him. He’s got to heat up a bit.

If he heats up in August, don’t rule out an August deal either, but Cleveland might have to eat some money. Personally, I think Woody is looking at next season to be moved, but it’s not impossible it happens before then.

Woody's contract has an $11 million option in 2011

that vests if he finishes (not saves, just finishes) 55 games in 2009 or 2010.

I wonder if this option will make it more difficult to trade him.

Hey, it's a new century!

Wood has 33 games finished so far this year.

He seems almost a lock to get to 55.

Let's just get this outta the way:

TWSA

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Looks like he had a pretty good July....

…despite ending it with a blown save.

Here are his 2009 gamelogs.

He’s also got a nice lookin’ 10.2 K/9. I wish him the best, too.

You can bet the ranch the Indians will put Kerry Wood thru waivers and see if anybody bites

But I doubt anybody bites. “Maybe” the Yankees, but even that I strongly doubt given his ridiculous contract.

Why the Yankees?

They have a GREAT pen, and they certainly won’t move Hughes to the rotation.

its BLou,

common sense does not equate in why anything would happen

We should bite

if the Indians would eat a good portion of the contract. Send them back Gregg.

TRIBE V TIGERS

Saw him pitch last Friday in Cleveland . Wasn’t the same Woody had trouble hitting his spots . Bet the tribe tries to deal him….

The most important thing about Kerry Wood

Is that he can pitch the entire year healthy.

If he can do that, then he can worry about his performance in 2010.

Woods Arm

I heard someone say that he hasn’t been pitching regularly… I wonder if that had anything to do with his performance.

Has his arm/shoulder been staying strong? He hasn’t had any arm troubles this year has he? His heater still have some stuff behind it?
