Soto back on Wednesday?
Cubs manager Lou Piniella will consider activating Geovany Soto on Wednesday if he fares well in his next two rehab games.
Soto will play Monday and Tuesday night with Double-A Tennessee. His next stop could be Wrigley. "I would think if he catches well tonight and doesn't feel any after-effects tomorrow... whether he catches in Tennessee on Wednesday or catches here, I don't see any difference," Piniella said. Backup Koyie Hill has played 207 innings since Soto went down -- 27 more frames than any other catcher in baseball in that span of time.
That's a ton of innings for Koyie who normally serves as a backup. This was taken from Rotoworld.com.

Sounds good to me
Then Lou can really get the most out of this lineup!

15 minutes before that story came out.
I bought tickets for Wednesday’s game at Tennessee. Bad Luck.

Ok kids who goes down ?
Hoff, Fuld & Fonty have options. Not sure on Baker but I think not and Blanco does not though I think both can clear
waivers. I suppose it could be a pitcher but one is already going down tomorrow anyway. It seems to me the Cubs
could live without both Shark and Stevens . I like Stevens but Lou never uses him anyway.

hopefully hoff
He can throw a fastball at 87MPH and make you look like a fool. He can spray lines drives to right field. He can put up with crappy offense and take the loss. He is Randy Wells. He is the most interesting pitcher in the world. Stay healthy, my friends.

My Bet...
…is Hoff.
I presume Stevens goes down when Gorzelanny is brought up tomorrow?

It will probably be a pitcher. Stevens or Shark are the likely candidates.

as much as i wouldn't mind seeing shark go down
i thought heilman had a curious whiplash-like reaction on one of the last ringing hits he gave up. his delivery looked awkward, also, on ne of his walks. He ought to go on the DL.

Maybe we can hire Fat Joey and his tire iron and tell him to take
out Heilmans knee caps. Problem solved.

I doubt that the Cubs will go down to 11 pitchers...
especially with two young pitchers and Harden in the rotation.
I think it will be Hoffpauir. Fuld is the only backup CF, Fontenot is the platoon 2B, Baker is the other platoon 2B, Blanco is the only backup SS, and Fox has been hitting too well. Hoffpauir isn’t hitting, and he doesn’t really serve a purpose on the team unless he’s hitting.
For all the talk people had about optioning Fontenot, he’s now hitting about the same as Hoffpauir. Fontenot has a .697 OPS compared to Hoffpauir’s .702. You can tolerate a .700 OPS from a 2B, but not from a power-hitting corner-OF/1B/PH.

Don't rush it
I don’t care if he comes up for the finale against the Reds. We won the first one, we should come out of there no worse than winning two of three. Let him get some at bats in Tennessee. Join the team in Colorado on Thursday to get acclimated, and play Friday.
I’ll join the rising chorus that Hoff probably goes, even though Fontenot hit the homer tonight his defense is greatly diminished by his poor range. Hoff doesn’t really have a spot that is defined. Fox can back-up at first base. I like having Fuld for defensive purposes until Johnson comes back. With Soriano out there you need a good gloveman that can come in late in games to take Soriano out.

Latest info indicates...
…Soto will likely rejoin the team Thursday and play in the Rockies series starting Friday.
(Note: I stole this link from Josh’s minor league wrap. Go read that.)
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Thanks for posting the link.
It didn’t make much sense to me for him to travel to Cincinnati for one game, then have an off day, then go to Colorado. Better he plays the full games as noted in that article.

it has for others

Thanks
Responses directed at me from shawngoldman and acapulco taco make me wonder if Churchill had ever met them.
