I'm headed to Wrigley for the first time.
I'm headed to Wrigley for the first time. I have been a Cubs fan for 23 years and have never been able to make it to a Cubs game for one reason or another. I was hopping for some tips. I have not got my tickets yet so I could use some tips on best tickets as well. I will be going to the Sept. 14th Brewer v. Cubs game. I'm so excited to have this chance I don't know what to do.
Here are my questions.
1. I'm going on a tight budget so I need to get the best ticket I can for the money. $50 and under ( As much under as I can)
2. Where is the best place and time to get Autographs?
3. How much money should I bring to the game for food and beer?
4. Whats the best way to get to Wrigley on game day?
5. Any other tips you and give would be great.
Thank you for reading this. GO CUBS!!!

1.) Bleacher seats are $50. That is where I usually sit when I go.
2.) After the game go to the players parking lot.
3.) Enough for something to eat. Beer isn’t outrageous but its much more economincal to go to a bar before the game to have a few drinks.
4.) Take the Red Line to the game. If your hotel isn’t close to a red line take the el to a transfer station.
5.) Get in line early if you get bleacher seats. Don;t sit in the first row though. Better view from second row.
Hope you have better luck than I do. I’m 1-10 lifetime.

For the Astros game on Wednesday...

Good thing we got them then...lol
I never checked bleacher tickets before about a month ago, when they announced on a TV telecast there were tickets available. Figured they were all sold out and I’d be shut out for my one trip to Wrigley this year.
But, lo and behold, there were a lot of bleacher seats available for Wednesday’s game and after frantic calling around, we got a group of 7 of us committed to the trip. Should be a good time.
Al, we usually settle for right field, but if attendance is low and we get a chance for decent LF seats, I’ll be sure and stop by and say hello. It also depends if I can drag my friend’s out of Murphy’s at a decent time before the game starts. LOL.

Please do stop by.
It’s not real likely our section will be very crowded, either, if you want to sit there.

Sept. 15-17
I’ll be in the bleachers those three days after seeing the Cards play the Marlins on Sept. 14 on the way up. On the way back, I’ll see the Cubs play the Cards in St. Louis on Sept. 18 after taking a tour of Wrigley that morning.

Bleachers for many games are sold out.
But you can check the website a day or two before, occasionally they get released.

Stub Hub has been awesome this year for this
For the Indians game where the Cubs came back from being down by 7, I needed a couple extra tickets right before I left for Chicago, and Stub Hub had a load of bleacher seats for less than face value. I’ve seen this a lot this year.

Since it's looking very likely we will not be in the playoff race
I would expect you can get tickets on the street for significantly under face value if you want to go that route. For bleacher tickets hang out around Murphy’s and make sure to get a feel for market value before buying.
Food and beer depends on how much you plan to eat and drink. Beer is like $6-7 per in the park. If you do bleachers I disagree with the lineup plan, although maybe it’s worth it if you have never been to Wrigley. I always at least wait until the main, initial line goes in and then go in (monitor from Murphy’s obviously while enjoying a cold one and laughing at everyone that lined up). If you go in shortly after the main initial rush, you’ll get great bleacher positioning. The closer you get to first pitch, the more you want to look in right field instead of left.
Anyway, your post is cool. Nothing like going to Wrigley for the first time.

I REMEMBER ALMOST
every detail of my first game . Take a camera don’t by shy and ask other fan’s to get your photo . There are numerous watering holes near Wrigley and some have great food . I would get to the area of the ball park early and savor that time . ( It is almost like a street carnival around Wrigley )…..The others have covered the ticket questions. For more information I would check out www.mywrigleyville.com . Hope you have a great time..

OK, So
I need to bring about $50 for food and beer.
Where is the players parking at Wrigley?
Should I hold out on tickets and see if they go down in price? Its going to be hard to get the wild card now.
Thank y’all very much. This was a lot of help.

Players parking lot is on Waveland across the street from the firehouse.

There is no reason at all to buy tickets yet
Prices will continue to drop as the game gets closer. Interest in the team is plummeting and once Bears season starts, which it will have by then, interest in the Cubs is going to be even lower. Your best bet is to buy tickets the day of the game.
Also, for food, you are allowed to bring in your own to Wrigley. Doing so has the advantage of 1) saving money and 2) allowing you to eat much better food. You can grab good hot dogs a block north of the stadium on the east side of Clark street. You can also get good heavy on the meat burritos at a stand right under the el tracks, just to the east of the entrance to the Addison el stop.

outside food
You’ll definitely save money by bringing in outside food. You can also bring in drinks, as long as they’re non-alcoholic and in a sealed plastic container – bottled water is something like 4 times as expensive inside the park as it is at the 7-11 across the street.

Oddly enough
I never knew this…Seriously? I could bring in a liter bottle of water, as long as the bottle hasn’t been opened? Peanuts too? If that’s the case, great, because then that’s more drink money for Murphys and the game.

Yes, you can do that.
Make SURE the bottle is sealed, though. If it’s even cracked open, they won’t allow it.

I'll be sure to do that
My main complaint in the last few years is not being able to drink enough water since it’s so expensive in the park. I’ll have a few beers, but after that, I just want to drink water because beer is way too heavy and filling. Not only that, but if it’s hot, the last thing I want is more beer. That’s awesome though. I’ll be sure to bring in a large bottle of water now.

Next hint.
Save your plastic bottle and refill it at one of the water fountains. They’re located in the LF and RF corners, behind the plate and in the bleachers.

Really? If it's opened...
…at all, you can’t bring it in? Both the A’s & Giants will let you bring in an open bottle, but they might ask to smell it.

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER....
It’s a good idea to take a jacket or sweatshirt .( You can always take it off ) Most of the time the vendors are set up on Sheffield .( Hats/shirts ect ) Much better value than in the park . Full Shilling public house on Clark has hotdogs prior to the game for it’s hungry fans…( Free with beverage purchase ) ….Go early to enjoy all the area has to offer …You are in the right range on the $ 50.00 enjoy

Wednesday is looking really nice though
High of 75, no rain, mostly sunny. A jacket maybe more appropriate, but you can get away with jeans and a shirt in that weather.

Be prepared...
…for a lot of childish, rowdy behavior, awful language, and — depending on the kind of day Bradley’s having — possibly some racial slurs.
I’d never sit in the bleachers, but that’s my personal taste.

However, I would say that your comments on what to expect there are 99% wrong.

On tix...
look on a honest secondary site selling tix. The Cubs are tanking so you’ll be able to get a ticket for less than face value, likely even singles.
Just win the next game...!

In any event, Cajun
you’re going to have a blast. I’m getting closer and closer to 60 games, and the only winning games I’ve been to have been the last three I’ve been to. Despite not going to a lot of winning games, I’ve loved going every single time. The people are great (there’s nothing quite like the unity of high fiving someone you don’t even know whenever the Cubs score a run), the atmosphere is usually good, and the surroundings are nice. I really hope you have a good time, and that your first impression is a good one.
