I need more of those.
Like the starting 8 for the Angels.

Here's where Theriot gets a hit to
put runners on first and third, then Bradley swings at the first pitch and pops out.
He'll have to wait for the 2nd AB next inning to do that
"Who ever heard of the Cubs losing a game they had to have?" -Frank Chance
"If [Ruth] had [called his shot], I would have knocked him down with the next pitch." -Charlie Root
Won't get the chance now.
Every time it seems like a Cub hits a ball where it should be, there’s a defender there. Everytime an opposing player hits a ball that should be an out, there’s never a Cub there.
funny story: theriot has struck out 20 more times this year than he did last year in 82 less PAs
Theriot is not clutch, he's double clutch!
Funny ha-ha
Or funny strange?

Just upsetting
that we were led to believe last week that a 10 game homestand with the Nationals, Mets, and Astros, plus a rain out with the White Sox could put the Cubs back in the wild card race. Isn’t working out so well.
You have to drink a special kind of Kool-Aid to believe the Cubs have any shot at the playoffs

Here's how....
Fox singles, Baker singles, Hill flies out, Soto singles in Fox (5-4 Astros), Theriot strikes out looking, Bradley homers. – Cubs win 7-5
Soto could PH

Cubs had a gift 10 game homestand to get fat on the NL’s worst, and they laid a huge egg. Hope they enjoy their unearned paychecks on the golf course in a month. One of biggest busts in ML history based on payroll.
at least they had serious injuries

as im looking for pictures of pujols, holliday, and derosa to complete my holy trinity photoshop
i stumbled onto this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_DeRosa
DeRosa had a very successful 2008 season, where he helped the Cubs to the best record in the National League. He had career highs in home runs with 21 and RBIs with 87. In 2008, he was arguably the best player on the Cubs and to this day nobody understands why Cubs GM, Jim Hendry would trade him for 2 minor league pitchers.
Theriot is not clutch, he's double clutch!
I wonder if a Cubs fan edited that.

Harden
Good thing we kept him for the Sept. Playoff run.
I love watching the Cubs during the season and dread watching them in the playoffs.
Look at my signature line

Cutler was aweseom,
as well as, a numbe of other Bears. Looks promising so far.
Thank
goodness for Cutler. The Cubs are painful to watch right now. Just need some meaningful football to watch.

23-10 the rest of the way....
3-0 vs Hou, CWS
4-2 @ NYM, @ Pit
6-1 Cin, Mil
5-5 @ StL, @ Mil, @ SF
5-2 Pit, Arz
Ends season at 88-74. Could be wild card situation.
23 -10??
Have you watched the Cubs this season?

Yep,
about 110 of the 129 games, but I’m not quitting yet
You're not quiting?
You’re not playing. The Cubs are the ones quitting.
Nationals series – ended it.

Maybe not fall apart
I don’t know what there schedules look like
15-14
is very possible from both of those teams
SF
has 6 games left with both SD and AZ. CO has 6 left with SD along with 3 games with AZ and MIL. You might have been hanging out with Soto too much.

CO
schedule looks pretty easy to me. Assuming they take 2 of 3 from SF, Philly and the Dodgers are the only tough series left. Cardinals will have everything wrapped up by the time they play them.
by VillanuevaExperience on Aug 31, 2009 10:07 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah,
I was also thinking that San Francisco’s schedule is slightly tougher.

Either way
its a major reach at this point to think the Cubs can win the wild card. This team has done nothing in the past three weeks to indicate any major run is coming. They just went 500 against the Mets and Nationals, at home. That is a scary sentence to type.

by VillanuevaExperience on Aug 31, 2009 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions
No, they have.
Same with the Cubs.
Neither team is mathematically eliminated but they’re clearly not good teams. The teams know it and they’re just playing out the season.

Do you think
Kenny regrets the Alex Rios move?
by VillanuevaExperience on Aug 31, 2009 10:05 PM CDT up reply actions
As with Peavy...
… that move was probably more about next year.
The Rios acquisition does not bother me. They didn’t give up a single player for him, didn’t cost a single draft pick. The Sox are shedding a lot of salary this off-season. We’ll see next year.

Confidence
When the Twins play the Sox there the Twins seem to be confident that they’ll win. The Sox play with all the confidence there of Wile E. Coyote, waiting for the Acme anvil to fall on their heads.
Too bad for the Twins they can’t play the Sox in the ALDS, ALCS and World Series.

I have front row behind the plate on thursday
Dugout box 19 Row A seats 1 and 2 …
I can’t make it back to Chicago for the game, so I gave the tickets to a friend of mine who has taken me to each playoff game the last two years.
He can’t find someone to take the second seat …
Amazing.

You would think they would have this figured out.
C Lee is close to Albert’s status when it comes to killing the Cubs. But then again, people still try to throw Soriano fastballs, too. It’s a guy thing, I know. Cajones Grandes.

Thome to Dodgers
Garland too! Dodgers stocking up.
"He can't hit, he can't field, he can't run—all he can do is beat you."
Are they planning to play Thome at 1B? Thome hasn’t played 1B regularly since 2005. Thome’s not a proto-typical PH.
Kind of an odd p/u for an NL team, unless they’re simply gearing up for the World Series. Although Thome cost the Dodgers virtually nothing (a 25+ year old A ball SS.)
I wish Thome the best. I usually root for the AL in the World Series, but any team with Jim Thome has me as a backer, FWIW.

Living in central Ill. as a Cub fan, it's not easy to pull for a Sox player
but ya gotta pull for Thome.

Apparently they're going to use
Thome exclusively as a pinch hitter. Seems like a bit of a waste.

You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat. - Albert Einstein
