It has been decent

Dempster, Zambrano and Harden have had piss poor years. Given what we got from Randy Wells, this shoyuld have been the best rotation in the national league. Instead its been just slightly above average.

by Ryanocm1 on Aug 31, 2009 7:51 PM CDT up reply actions

ummmmmmmmm

False. If we had consitent hitting, we’d be 20 games over with the pitching we have gotten. W-L records are decieving when your offense comes and goes

by heine41 on Aug 31, 2009 7:53 PM CDT up reply actions

disagree

this pitching has been only slightly above average. A more consistent offense would not have won us 18 more games. 5-10 maybe. Our starters have been above average but not great

by Ryanocm1 on Aug 31, 2009 7:54 PM CDT up reply actions

the last west coast trip would have netted 5-6 wins with 3-4 runs a game

Yes. Consistent offense is the difference for us. Our starting pitching has been great

by heine41 on Aug 31, 2009 7:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Really

what does it rank in the NL.I seriously do not know, but I believe it is in the 5-7 range, which would be just above average. Not good enough considering you have several supposed aces and a rookie that has been dominant.

In terms of the West Coast trip, you cant necessarily say because you lost 3-1 that you would have won if you scored 4. It is a different ball game. Teams hit and manage different

if a pitcher is flirting with 50 pitches in the 3rd inning

odds are that pitcher is wearing a Cubs uni. This has the feel of our offense mailing in another lame effort, or maybe it is their best effort and they just are not capable of anything more.
