Back when he was young

the 2008 Cubs had the old, beaten up Leiber.

If Gorzelanny comes close to some of those earlier years put up by Leiber, that’d be fantastic.

I was skeptical about his start tonight, but he’s thrown just as well as I’d seen him throw in Indianapolis all year. It’s very promising.

Keith Hernandez

should stick to butchering Mets analysis and leave his Cubs commentary in the bag.

He was mouthing off about Cubs having issues in the ninth

failing to mention they’ve had big leads in many cases. Then said that Marmol is the closer but he can’t get his slider over for a strike and the league knows about it and won’t swing – which is the exact opposite of Marmol’s problems right now, nevermind that he’s not the closer.

ugghhh…

Cheers for relaying that

Let him sink the boot in, the Mets have their own troubles in the ninth to overcome.

Yeah, except that the Reds have won some World Series titles over the years (see 1976).

So they are a major league franchise, however much he chooses to disagree.

Beating them counts.

Though, could the Cubs make the late innings not quite as interesting anymore?
