I hope we aren't slipping back to that frustrating team from the first half

Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

by BleedsbluinMI on Aug 7, 2009 10:25 PM CDT reply actions

Two games

gives you that impression? So if they win two in a row, that means they’ll win the WS, too. If you’re going to say one thing, you have to say the other, too.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Aug 7, 2009 10:47 PM CDT up reply actions

No, no not from two games.

Settle down already. No, I don’t have to say they will win the WS if they win two in a row. Jeez. I really disliked how they underperformed in the 1st half, but have been the first to defend how they have played since. Can’t blame me for not trusting them quite yet.

Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

by BleedsbluinMI on Aug 7, 2009 10:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Then what are you basing it on?

Sure sounds like two games to me. Unless you have a “funny” feeling or something.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Aug 7, 2009 10:55 PM CDT up reply actions

That's not what I said

I just don’t see how two games can make you judge one way or the other. Unless you’re terminally pessimistic.

I was not printing up WS tickets after the two wins in Cincy. You shouldn’t be bearing doom and gloom after two losses, either.

Manic depression is a terrible thing.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Aug 7, 2009 11:06 PM CDT up reply actions

You are an wrong. Look up my previous posts.

It’s not bearing doom and gloom to hope that the team doesn’t return to how they played for more than half the season. You are basing my “manic depression” on a very good run of 15 games compared to the first 85?

I have supported the good play and recent wins as much as anybody. You can’t logically discount the previous THREE months. I think the Cubs are a playoff team, but they have had some problems winning games so far, right?

Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

by BleedsbluinMI on Aug 7, 2009 11:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, so what?

With injuries and guys in slumps, that happens. Once they play up to their averages, things should be better. And since the ASB, they have been.

Again, determining that after two games is idiotic.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Aug 7, 2009 11:18 PM CDT up reply actions

So when I say I HOPE, I have made a determination?

Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

by BleedsbluinMI on Aug 7, 2009 11:20 PM CDT up reply actions

Ok jackass. Just making an observation.

There have been an inordinate amount of injuries and underperforming. I think we have reached a critical stage where “things should be better” might not be good enough for a whole lot longer.

“Once they play up to their averages” we will walk away with this division. No doubt in my mind. Not irrational, however, to be concerned they are returning to their mean for THIS year, a sample size of over 80 games. Everyone is not back and healthy, yet. Sori and MB are playing better. But, two lackluster games in a row with the schedule ahead in the near term is worth a little concern.

Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

Whatever

by Not Bruce Froemming on Aug 7, 2009 11:40 PM CDT up reply actions

Ok NBF.

The funny thing is, I think you and I are typically one the same page. I’ve looked through your posts tonight and see you are on edge with anybody who has anything negative to say. That’s fine. Again, I ask you to look at my track record. I’m not a ledge jumper.

The team was frustrating to watch for a long time. Now, for a shorter time they have been very good. My fear is that they slide back to what they have been. Don’t want them to, know they have the talent that they shouldn’t. Don’t think I deserve your repsonse for saying I hope that isn’t what is happening.

For the record I want them to win and like to see them play well. Don’t expect it every night. I was not any where near out of line, however, on my original post.

I’m done with this topic, we can agree to disagree or not, don’t care. Sad thing is, I think we are very similar Cub’s fans.

So, you win. Way to go.

Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

The dogs

Here’s a picture… couple years old, the white one is much fatter now but the redish brown one is the same size… she’s older too by about a year. Their names are Birdie and Bogey (live on a golf course). Bogey was rescued from an abusive family in North Carolina that kept her locked up all day and never fed her… she was skin and bones when we rescued her. Much happier now. If you ever want to get a basset, check out the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue out of Dwight… http://www.bassetrescue.org

I hate going to the basset rescue site because I always end up crying reading the stories and seeing the dogs… but it makes me feel better that people are rescuing them all the time… I’ll never understand why people abuse animals… it’s not like they did anything wrong and they’re so innocent…

A huge problem when you won’t admit an injury or that you don’t have it ( Gregg). It is NOT being Macho or sucking it up. It is killing your team. One thing I always loved about Maddux is that he had no problem telling a manager he was “gassed” in the last years of his career.

That was pretty poor today.

I watched BP and big Z was swinging for the fences. Someone should tell him we don’t need our pitchers to be homerun hittters. My guess is he tweaked it again swinging too hard.

Also get some bunt practice for Shark. That bunt was terrible.
