I doubt he can go that deep.

Just wait until Shark comes in...

then it’ll be lovely in here.

At least they have two long men in the bullpen, so some combination of Marshall and Shark should get them through six innings today.

not really. they have three stud starters and the probably the best closer in the league.

they have two flukes in piniero and franklin, but they’re the cardinals; they always seem to get career years out of junk players. lohse is okay. they’re pitching is well above average, and at the top it’s as good as it gets. the cards are better than the cubs at nearly every position, save 3rd base and 4th and 5th spots in the rotation.

by LeSaboteur on Aug 7, 2009 9:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Oh, absolutely.

I just picked it up again after a month of non-playing, and just completed the sweep of the Pads at PetCo. I think we’re 28-16 at the moment.

This was Gathright’s second game, and he belted a tripe and double, with two stolen bases. Dome leads with 22.

Only 2 IP - looks like both Stevens and Berg will be in Denver tomorrow

Marshall is probably done for the weekend, and hopefully Shark can throw 3 IP but then he’d also be done for the weekend.

You are suggesting sending Marshall be sent down because we need an extra body. That seems more than a bit harsh.

by Doggie Stalker on Aug 7, 2009 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions

No....

I’m suggesting that Shark gets sent down, and that Z goes on the DL. It would be essentially for 10 days as it would be retroactive to his last start, so he’d be missing one start and delaying a second start by a day.

Why Dome is leadoff..

He can work a count. Soriano = 2 pitches, Theriot – 1 pitch. I like him in the one hole very, very much.

by DisCUBbobulated on Aug 7, 2009 9:01 PM CDT reply actions

I was for him taking the one hole...

…much, much earlier in the season. But, yes, let’s keep him there! He’d be even better if he’d steal a few more bases.

by LeSaboteur on Aug 7, 2009 9:02 PM CDT up reply actions

I sure am digging him in the leadoff spot

It’s like he’s channeling Ichiro (but with more walks)

by CaliCub on Aug 7, 2009 9:03 PM CDT up reply actions

I can agree with that.

Dome could use a smidge of Ichiro’s power, too.
