Geovany Soto actived, Micah Hoffpauir sent down
Micah Hoffpauir will likely be back soon, if not for a September call up.

This sounds like
Exactly what needed to happen. Hoff has to get his swing back, and getting one at bat a game isn’t going to do that. He’ll be helpful in September when he has been swinging the bat every game in Iowa

If the starters were hitting
Ideally Hoff and Fox would have been spending this year alternating between Iowa and Chicago – play every day for a few weeks at Iowa, then come back and pinch hit and spot start for a few weeks. Both should have been locks to make a playoff roster since they’d take an extra hitter, but Micah is about to play his way off of a playoff roster.

Jeff Samardzija
Should’ve been sent down, not Hoffpauir IMO.

Shark should have been gone
When Gorzy came up. He should be down when Lily comes back.

Jeff Samardizija is the new Kevin Hart for the Cubs
Or in other words a marginal major league talent who will likely spend the next few years bouncing back and forth between Chicago and Des Moines, and who will be looked upon to plug into the bullpen or in emergency starting duty.
Fact is Hendry horribly overestimated the talent and potential of Samardizija. The signing bonus and contract terms he was handed are ridiculous for the talent that he is.

Micah Hoffpauir's major league moment is over
He is what he is. Another aging minor league journeyman in the mold of Matt Murton, Josh Kroeger, Jason Dubois, Bobby Scales, Sam Fuld who took advantage of opportunity but was ultimately exposed as non-major league material.
Best wishes to Micah in his future endeavors.

Don't print Hoff's obituary just yet
He is blocked from regular playing time by D-Lee. He can play a credible first. If he was in the AL, or on a team that needed a first basemen he’d play regularly.
Samardizija needs to learn major league control to go along with his talent. One thing the organization should do is decide what role they want him to fill, and keep him there. Start or bullpen, and let him focus on building his pitch control.

Hoffpauir would be a perfect fit for the Nationals
He’s be able to bat sixth and play at 1B against most righties, and it wouldn’t be a big deal if a prospect eventually came up and took his place.

Major league pinch hitting is hard
That’s why they are usually veterans like Daryle Ward.
