btw...
this might be the first lineup in a long time I don’t object to. I’m not saying it’s going to score a bunch, and I’d rather get Jake Fox some more pas over the last month… but it’s pretty much an optimal lineup for who they’re putting out today. Nice job, Lou.

it’s 1-0. How about that?

It is a nice line up
but if Fuld were not injured it would be nice to have him in there. Outfield a bit scary defensively.

obv
not the ideal personnel to throw out there… but it’s got the obp guys leading into the thumpers (Lee’s a lot of both). However, tomorrow Bradley will be back there hitting 5th and nobody will have learned anything from this. Sorry to kill your warm fuzzy.

I don't have a problem with Bradley in there
but he should bat 2nd, Dome leading off and Riot way back.

exactly
bradley should be in there… just not hitting fifth.
because you asked… my ideal lineup:
Fuld lf
Fukudome cf
Bradley rf
Lee 1b
Ramirez 3b
Soto c
Baker 2b
Theriot ss
righty lefty be damned!

yup
when people talk about lineup construction being overrated, that’s what they’re talking about. arranging the skills of the players you choose to put on the field is not overrated. it’s the most important thing a manager does, since a computer could basically get it right every time, and the only thing a manger can do is screw it up.

ummm...
why? you want Bradley’s massive edge on obp over the rest of the team leading into Lee and Ramirez. The reason this team has had problems scoring runs is because of the many games Bradley and Fukudome have spent hitting right behind Lee and Ramirez. It’s absolutely the worst place to put either of them. Hitting them 8th would be more productive.

Milton batting 2nd. Fuld 8th but I would kind of like to see him at leadoff a few times

that's fine
as long as you play Fox in left and bat him 5th (or a productive Soto, I guess)… or there’s a massive hole in your five spot (which no productive lineup should have) . A producing Soto or Soriano would also fill that hole.

Fox
when Fox gets in and plays leftfield you move theriot up to the top and put fox in after Soto…. or before, either way.
Theriot is not ideal, but he’s the shortstop we have, and we don’t have many better players on the team as far as getting on base, unfortunately.

Wait a minute, maybe it still is.
Well, anyway, you have to think that Bobby will finally hang it up after this year. He finally got to have his major league moment. He seems like a real decent guy, and I sure wish him well.

so you don't think Scales is an upgrade as an infield backup over bobble head Miles?
"Truth hurts. Maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with the seat missing, but it hurts." - Leslie Nielson
given LBR's BA, I assume Blance can start at 2B worst case and it is a huge defensive
upgrade—again, worst csae
"Truth hurts. Maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with the seat missing, but it hurts." - Leslie Nielson
My Ranks for 2B
Baker > LBR (If hitting well) > Blanco (but is a FINE defensive option and should play over LBR if hes not hitting) > Scales
Albert Pujols for Cubs Starting 1B in 2012
Baker, Blanco & Scales
give you some options with our limited tool SS too.
…again my bias is I really believe in defense FIRST up the middle.
"Truth hurts. Maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with the seat missing, but it hurts." - Leslie Nielson
I agree, but it definitely hurts when you are not getting the offenses production from your corner outfielders
If fonz and bradley would have produced this year as we anticipated, it didn’t matter what the BA of our SS, 2B and CF were
