Rick Reilly makes random Cubs diss
I usually enjoy the man's entertainment journalism, but the last reason on this list is silly. Sorry if we're too loyal, Rick.

I liked Reilly better when he was at SI.
Looks like he’s caught ESPN Disease. This column is just dumb.

Of course it is
That last bit only summed it up. Of course, dissing the Cubs and Cubs fans is the easiest way to get the trolls that post at ESPN to laugh. All I can say to Rick is, “Good job.” He proves once again that he’s no better than a troll.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Looks like Rick may or may not have channeled his inner Bill Simmons to write this
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.
so Rick was an unoriginal douche bag this time
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
Or
he is sleeping with Bill Simmons and while spooning during an extended viewing of the 2004 Red Sox Championship DVD, he experienced some cranial knowledge transfer via subliminal osmosis.

Beat me to it
That column was a lot funnier — and had no Cubs insults — when Simmons wrote it.

I really don't get it
I was telling my wife this the other day. Yeah, 1908, we’ve all heard it. But does it matter? Personally, I’m 31 years old. Anything they did prior to 1977 (and in reality, it’s more like ~1985) doesn’t mean anything to me anyway since I wasn’t there or wasn’t old enough.
They could have torn up the 60s and 70s and to me, personally, that wouldn’t mean much at all. I’d much rather the Cubs be where they are now, winning the division or at least being in contention every year than be some franchise that’s been dead and buried for the past few years. Look at the Pirates (We are Family was almost 30 years ago, after all) and Kansas City (going nowhere the last 15 years or so) Hell, before last year the Brewers hadn’t even been to the post season in 25 years.
I dunno. Maybe I’m just a Cub apologist on this. But I always tell people when I get ragged on for ‘100+ years’ that it hasn’t been that long, for me.
